Is Microsoft’s Decision To Transfer Windows On ARM Worthwhile

4

Steve Ballmer announced at CES in January 2012 that Microsoft would be bringing Windows to the ARM architecture. The Steve’s decision seemed inexpedient for Everyone–why is Microsoft inexplicably doing this ?  Today, Microsoft’s Steven Sinofsky has answered number of question in a long technical post on Windows 8 blog. Basically, he has answered how the company has putted its all afford to bring Windows on ARM or WOA, and what’s the need to bring off. WOA is incompatible with the processors architecture like X86and X64—Microsoft’s Windows Vista and windows7 are currently running on this architecture. Web Oriented Architecture (WOA) is a format of software architecture that extends service-oriented architecture (SOA) to web-based application, sometimes it’s called as the future of SOA. Incompatibility of WOA with X86 and X64 processor architecture means that the apps that are running on the Windows 7 and Windows Vista won’t be able to run on the Windows 8. However, the blog says, WOA will be trustworthy for the portability, battery life, and integrated quality for which it has been shipped. There’s also a possibility that Microsoft’s endeavor could make the device more costly.

The company hasn’t expeditiously taken decision to blend Windows to ARM; it might have taken numbers of years. Definitely, it’s astounding to listen “ARM-based Tablet”—the challenge was to run OS on ARM phone. A picture with the courtesy of Asus has been provided below:

Transferring of windows on ARM is really difficult, as the mechanism involve for building ARM system is completely different—which requires some serious changes. For doing so, the company had to work hard day-and-night to revise its device and hardware management. The company has decided to have 3200 machine running on WOA to troubleshoot, stress test, and so on.

For proper run of Windows, ARM devices  should be well equipped with UEFI, ACPI, and Windows Hardware Abstraction layer. In addition to these, there’s also been a possibility of inclusion of DirectX, discrete device—including GPS units, Printer, and like. The video presentation is helping to upgrade every major version of Windows.

Anyway, Microsoft’s endeavor is highly incredible to bring Windows OS to ARM. The company has tried to do some different, but it will be fruitful only when it will come in the market and lure the attention of folks. However, everyone has high expectation from Windows upcoming version, but the company’s decision to transfer Windows to ARM architecture is beyond anyone’s expectation. The company will get extra burden to make apps compatible over Apps. The company need additional afford to troubleshoot the issues related to WOA, beside this, the company’s Windows Q4 report was also not impressive.

Will Apple’s iPad 3 Be Better Than Its Predecessor ?

1

There has always been speculations about iPad 3 that when would it be launched in the market. Number of rumors stated that the iPad 3 will come on the Steve Jobs’ birth anniversary later this month, and some stated that it might be launched in beginning of March this year. Finally, a digital blog site AllThingsD has reportedly said that the Apple is going to release its iPad 2’s successor–iPad 3– first week of March this year. The volume manufacturing is expected to ramp-up this month in order to fulfill the demand of the Tablet.

Apple has boastingly said that that the iPad 3 will have 4x faster graphics than iPad 2. The third generation of iPad will have next- generation processor A6—iPad 2 and iPhone 4S have A5 processor—with improved graphical capabilities. One thing is still unclear that whether A6 processors will Quad-core or something else. There’s still a little doubt that the high resolution display and faster graphics might drain to the battery back-up. The company has argued that the faster processor is supposed to be more energy-efficient, and nothing to worry about the battery life. The facts revealed that Apple has not yet released any ipad or iphone that had worse battery life than its predecessor.

Apple will integrate its most commendable voice recognition app “Siri” in its third generation Tab along with the bumped-processor. The company has always been improving the quality of sounds and speaker in successor of iPad or iPhone.  That’s why; it is expecting that the Apple’s iPad 3 will have better sound and speaker than its predecessor.

The speculations reveals that Apple’s new Tablet will have 4G connectivity—if so, then iPad 3 will be Apple’s first product having 4G connectivity. The users will definitely be readied to pay higher monthly bill than the currently 3G data plan offered on their iPad. The new iPad will have two cameras—rear and front—with higher resolutions. The rear camera might have integrated flash and front camera will provide an experience of HD chatting.

The company is using IGZO technology in iPad 3 for high resolution screen display—might result more thickness to Tablet. The myths reveals that the company has always sincere to shrink the size of its device. It’s hard to say that iPad 3 may have larger size, however, it’s not the issue, but, it should be lighter. It’s expected that iPad 3 will have 2,048 x 1,536 pixels resolution—which is quite higher than 1024 x 768 pixels of iPad 2.

A managing director and chief analyst at Piper Jaffray—Gene Munster—said, “Our model currently assumes iPad 3 will simply replace iPad 2; however, if Apple expands the iPad lineup to both higher and lower price points, the new iPads could support growth well above our current estimates. Our current CY13 revenue growth estimate for the iPad is 11%, with the bull case at 30%.”

Apple is likely to see a slowdown in its iPad 2 due to intense competition from Amazon’s Kindle fire. Beside iPad 3, the company also wants to continue the sale of refurbished iPad 2 at the lower price. It might be the company’s strategy to compete their rivals like Kindle fire and Google’s upcoming Nexus Tablet. However, there’s a huge speculation and apprehension about iPad 3, but, the reality will only come into the site when the Tablet will be released by the company in the first week of March.

How Amazon’s Junglee.com Is Wining Over Flipkart From Day 1 In Inda

4

From the day of launch Amazons’ Junglee.com has started scathing the market of Flipkart.com in India. Amazon launched Junglee.com on 2nd February and within one week its Alexa ‘Reach Percentage” ( Changes by +7000%) as well as “Traffic Rank” (Change by +143,226) has surged up drastically. Meanwhile Flipkart.com has registered decline in its daily reach (Change by -11% ) as well as traffic rank (Change by -84), especially from the day of Junglee existence.

Though, the ranking of Junglee came down as the way it went up soon. Probably, it was all the effect of gangrenous launch of Junglee which helped it to got ranked among top online players in India. But, in any of the case, current ranking, traffic and pageviews of Junglee are really astounding, considering the days of existence.

However, earlier entrants in Indian eCommerce market were unable to affect the market of Flipkart.com. But, Junglee.com has partially affected the online market of Flipkart.com in just a week. And, with many upper hands, junglee.com is expected to keep challenging Flipkart in future too.

When I tried to search the reason behind such slumped down in reach and traffic percentage of Flipkart.com, I noticed that despite of being just a few days old online existence, Junglee.com has managed to crack better deals with product vendors compare to Flipkart. Also, the number of products available in each segment with Junglee is comparatively higher than Flipkart.

The price difference scenario is not just with one product, they are in numbers. One will be surprised to know that the price offered by Junglee.com on higher range of products is quite inferior to the prices compare to Flipkart. Also, Junglee has got hold over Apple’s product, while Flipkart might be still working on it to introduce in coming months.

Indeed, Amazon is a global brand and one of the leading online shopping companies in the world. To complete in Indian market company needs to adopt the shopping habits and pulse of e-shoppers who primarily focus on the cost before anything else.

Besides, Amazon has also got its own products for mobile Industry. Its globally acclaimed Kindle Fire Tablet and its own App Store will surely provide much needed extra edge to the company. In India, where Tablet market is just booming up, the presence of cost effective Kindle Fire will surely be an added advantage for Amazon’s junglee.com.

A wide range and variety of apps, available on Amazon’s own App Store is another advantage to draw people’s attention especially when mobile industry in India going through major transformation. Therefore, it’s easy for the company to ‘adjust’ the price tag of its Tablet devices as well as apps according the geo location.

Flipkart Advantages

Apparently, from first primafacy scenario, It will be tough chore for Flipkart to maintain its lead position in Indian market in the presence of Amazons’ Junglee.com. But, Flipkart too has got many advantages that can help it to compete with Junglee – only if company leverages upon them intelligently.

Since 2007, Flipkart has garnered a goof sense of Indian economic in e-business model. The customer satisfaction ratio is quite higher compare to any other online shopping portal of same size. Company has checked the pulse of indian consumers many times in last 5 years and tweaked its operations to get fit in best format. For a country like India, where offline infrastructure is not matured enough, commutation of products and services in timely manners has always been a killing factor for many companies. Flipkart has got its own delivery network in 27 cities ( Tier 1 and Tier 2) to overcome such challenge that resulted in higher confidence among shopping towards Flipkart. For any new intrant, like Amazon (Junglee.com) having such extensive self-network will surely be a daunting task in any speculated time duration.

For Amazon, the major chunk of revenue comes from online book sales in US but scenario is quite different in India. People are still not that fascinated towards reading habits and Amazon need to pick this thing up soon. While doing a sharp analysis on Amazon’s junglee.com, we found that company is still trying to expose more book titles than gadgets or any other products. While Flipkart has got this balanced and offer range of electronic gadgets catering to all sort of needs and all type of consumers. Out of major 11 catagories on Flipkart, 7 belong to different purpose gadgets and electronic/electric gadgets.

What’s Flipkart Holding Wrong

Think about the scenario; you want to make some money. You make your efforts, mail to thousands of people, make your own website and manages to sell a highly priced device tagged with Rs. 30,000. How much do you expect to make out of that sale – atleast Rs 600 to justify all your efforts and hard work !

Apparently, Flipkart has got stuck under conservative mind set here. For most of electronic gadgets, Flipkart is offering just 1% to its affiliates. Even, considering all type of products, the highest commission offered is only 4% – only for those which come under low price category, between Rs 500 – 2500. Undoubtedly, this fails to charm many Indian affiliate marketers who are turning towards Amazon which is offering anything between 1% – 15%.

Being in the affiliate industry, I can say that most of bloggers/website owners – whose revenue model has got proportionate contribution from affiliate commission – are preferring Amazon over and above than Flipkart.

Is Nokia’s Decision to Shift Smartphone Manufacturing To Asia Rationale

2

Last year, the world giant Telecom Equipment Manufacturer—Nokia Siemens—had declared on its website that the company is going to cut 17,000 jobs in order to reduce the cost of $1.3 billion by the end of 2013. After long struggle, the Finnish Phone maker—Nokia—once again said on Wednesday that the company is planning to cut 4,000 more jobs at its plants in Finland, Hungary, and Mexico.

Nokia net sales in Q4 last year was little more than €10 billion ($13.1 billion), up by 11% from its Q3 same year but 21% lower than same quarter of 2010—Nokia marked $12.7 billion (approx. $16.7 billion). However, Nokia dominated in mobile handset shipment last year, but its shipment is declining year-over-year.

Last year, Nokia stated in its strategy updates, “Our goal is to provide the world’s most efficient mobile networks, the intelligence to maximize the value of those networks, and the services capability to make it all work seamlessly. Despite the need to restructure parts of our company, our commitment to research and development remains unchanged, with investment in mobile broadband expected to increase over the coming years.”

The company is seeking for cost reduction which is possible after moving Smartphone assembly work to Asia. I think, Nokia is just following the similar strategy of Apple—the company’s all components’ manufacturing as well as its assembling are done in China.

Nokia’s vice president of the market—Niklas Savander—said, “Shifting device assembly to Asia is targeted at improving our time to market. By working more closely with our suppliers, we believe that we will be able to introduce innovations into the market more quickly and ultimately be more competitive.”

Nokia has reportedly said that it is going to cut 2,300 jobs in Hungary, some 1,000 jobs in Finland, and remaining 1,100 jobs in Mexico. The company has total nine manufacturing plants worldwide and 7,100 employees in these three factories. The cut of 4,000 jobs means the loss of more than half jobs in these three factories. Whatever be the reason, but the company is now pretending after arguing that it’s the company’s strategy to speed up production in the fast-moving Smartphone market. A huge folks in US lashed out Apple for assembling its component in China–creating job opportunity  beyond the US offshore. Nokia’s decision to move their Smartphone manufacturing would reduce the cost, but it’s not the solution for the company. The company needs to rethink about its strategy over its OS, hardware, and marketing rather than jobs cuts in Finland, Mexico, and Hungary.

Nokia Dominated In Mobile Web Usage In January 2012 Followed By Apple: [STUDY]

0

Mobile web usage is continuously increasing with dizzying pace year-over-year. A research analysis firm–StatCounter– has stated that the web accesses through the mobile devices are being increased by nearly two-fold every year. The firm has also revealed that the web usage on mobile devices surged to 8.5% in January 2012—which is approximately twice the same month a year ago. Nokia is still dominating in mobile web browsing, followed by Apple. Nokia has grabbed 40% of the world’s mobile web browsing share—due to its dominance in India. Apple has succeeded to grasp second position globally in mobile web browsing with 30% share—including 59.11% massive share in North America. In North America, Samsung and RIM had just 11.43% and 10.06% share respectively in January 2012.  Samsung succeeded to grab only 14% share globally, came after Apple. Android accounted less than 25% mobile web usage after combining the contribution of all of its manufacturers, while research in Motion falling to roughly 8% of share–however, Blackberry was second preferred device for mobile web browsing in UK.

StatCounter has also announced that new starts regarding mobile vendors are now available on its Global States website. The firm has been compiling and refining these states for some time and has now made the beta project public. Based on initial research covering all traffic to the Statcounter network, Nokia leads worldwide, most probably driven by its dominance in India.

The reason why mobile web browsing is being increased is quite obvious due to strong penetration of Smartphones globally—especially in holidays season last year. The inducement of Apple’s innovative iPhone 4S has given a new definition of Smartphone. Folks start more relying on their mobile for the online shopping rather to be present physically in retail shops. The Smartphone ate all consumers’ electronic product last year, and became the most preferred gadget.

Meanwhile, social media apps like LinkedIn—playing a crucial role to plunge unemployment in US—, Twitter, and Facebook have been growing on mobile devices— increasing mobile web traffic. The users started to prefer larger screen size and QWERTY keyboard according to their desire. A recent survey stated the behavior of different age groups on mobile online browsing. For gaming, music, videos, and more activities mobile devices are often used, lots of mobile apps stores are available and billions of apps are available according to users’ craving.

Undoubtedly, the global penetration of Smartphone is still low, just 10% of world’s populations are owning the device. Only 2.7% of Indian populations own Smartphone—while a large number of populations have traditional phone. The statistics reveal that numbers of Apple’s handset in India are very low—due to higher cost charges by carriers for services than other part of the world. However, huge folks are being attracted towards Android cheap Smartphone, but Nokia is still most preferred mobile handset in India (due to low-price, and features). However, Nokia dominated in total mobile handset shipment worldwide, followed by Apple.

Overall, a large penetration of Smartphone worldwide has augmented mobile web browsing for social media access, apps and games downloading, online shopping, video conferencing, and more. A huge numbers of folks like to browse the web through Symbian OS, made Nokia at the zenith. However, A stringent battle is still ahead for mobile handset manufacturer especially for Nokia to sustain its supremacy—the company’s mobile handset shipment declining year-over-year.

Is RIM Wining Over iPhone and Android In App Market ?

4

On Tuesday, Research in Motion’s new executive revealed some interesting facts during BlackBerry DevCon Europe about the company’s  success with BlackBerry Apps World Marketplace. RIM’s new CEO—Thorsten Heins—said that more than 60,000 applications are available in BlackBerry App World—which is definitely the fraction of number of Android Market or Apple’s apps store. Despite of all these, RIM’s BlackBerry App World are more profitable than Android app market. A recent report has stated that BlackBerry device was the most popular among the Smartphones purchase in the UK last year. The company’s vice president—Alec Saunders—said that 178 million apps are being downloaded each month, nearly 6 million apps every day. The BlackBerry apps are being 43% more downloaded daily than Apple’s own Apps Store.

RIM’s Vice president—Alec Saunders—said, “BlackBerry is one of the most profitable platforms to work for. Very clearly, developers are making money on BlackBerry and PlayBook today. There is a study from Evans Data that shows that 13 percent of all Blackberry developers made more than $100,000 from App World. That is more than from any iPhone or Android application. And I think that speaks to the economic power of our platform”.

RIM is highly relying on its apps developers to create  new and innovative ways of using Blackberry Smartphones and Tablets. The company is also going to launch its BlackBerry 10—previously known as BBX—by the end of this year—which is expected to bring all new users interface and OS to BlackBerry products.

I little disagree with Alec’s statement that BlackBerry is most profitable platform to work for. Indeed, BlackBerry is still starving on the app front, and also there’s a very less competition among developers. The launch of BBM 6 brought many apps to being connected with BBM—developers definitely created a stronger BlackBerry apps-based environment. Some apps of BlackBerry including BerryBuzz, and BerryWeather has not had much success—the same apps are developed by different developer with the same concept but they are available at half or even free price. Considering with Android and iOS perspective, numbers of similar apps but of different versions are avail by the different developers at the nominal price or even free due to extensive competition. But the competitions at the apps starving platform like BlackBerry and WP7 are very low, where very few similar apps are available. That’s why, developers at these platforms are making more dollars compare to intense competitive app environments.

Alec’s argues about “nearly six million apps are being downloaded every day” isn’t astounding me a lot. BlackBerry Apps World Store doesn’t content such outstanding apps that are not available at Apple’s app store and Android market. It seems that apps available on different platform are somehow alike to others—similar logic behind the development of the apps and also similar in functionality.

BlackBerry App World store has so far reached over 2 billion downloads—definitely, it’s very low compare to Android Market’s 11 billion and Apple’s iOS App Store’s 15 billion downloads. Also, the number of apps available in BlackBerry App World Store is over 60,000, which is equivalent to Microsoft’s Windows Phone Marketplace.

Recently, Google announced that 1 billion Android apps are also being downloaded every month, and demands of iOS apps are also increasing with dizzying pace. However, RIM’s endeavor to lure Android developer to optimize Android apps for PlayBook. Undoubtedly, RIM, Apple, Google, and Microsoft, all seems very aggressive towards its apps development. Last year, apps economy created a huge job opportunity (466,000 jobs), only in US. A research analysis firm had expected that the mobile apps store might surpass $15 billion revenue by the end of 2011. Apps market is going to be stronger in upcoming years, and all players would like to make more and more revenue every year through their apps.

89% Facebook, 39% Twitter, 21% LinkedIn: Marketers To Use Social Networks

0

Facebook might still be the juggernaut of social media advertising, but Twitter takes the second-place silver medal. More advertisers will be turning to Twitter this year than YouTube, LinkedIn or Google+ to get at their customers’ eyeballs – and their credit cards. Advertising agencies say their clients are still choosing Facebook above all social networks. While Facebook has a huge lead ahead of all its competitors, Google+ is growing quickly.

Facebook continues its dominance in marketing campaigns. In Q4 2011, 89 percent of agencies said they plan to utilize the medium for their clients going forward. This is followed by 39 percent planning to use Twitter, 36 percent choosing YouTube, 21 percent picking LinkedIn, and 18 percent opting for Google+. Note that this doesn’t necessarily mean the agencies will be using ads on these social networks; it just means they want to use the platforms to market for their clients, whether that be with ads, Facebook Pages, Google+ Pages, or other creative means. Twitter being in the second place that advertisers said they’d focus on in 2012. 39 percent of them said they would tell their clients to tweet their way to marketing success.

Following Twitter came YouTube at 36 percent, LinkedIn at 21 percent and Google+ at 18 percent. The survey also asked participants how they would help their clients approach mobile and other digital advertising in 2012.

The data comes from a survey conducted by marketing firm Strata , which found the media buying industry reported impressive growth during Q4 2011. 81 percent expect their clients approach to advertising and marketing to either increase or stay the same, which is up 14 percent based on the same figures reported in Q3 2011. While business and client spending on advertising is expected to continue to increase in 2012, the survey noted that digital advertising was flat during the fourth quarter, but mobile is building momentum.Mobile advertising is exploding: During the fourth quarter of 2011, mobile advertising was up 39 percent.

Google: Celebs And Politics Are Driving Google+ Growth In Asia

1

In Asia, Facebook counts 212 million users, just 5 percent of the 4.3 billion people who live there. Asia is a region that is largely dominated by Facebook, which has overtaken a number of rivals that once ruled markets across the continent, including Friendster, Hi5 and Google’s own Orkut.

While Google carefully guards its user figures and doesn’t break out data based on country or region, Ryan Hayward, who oversees marketing for Google+ across Asia, told TNW that the social network is making good progress in the continent. Google+ is now up with 90 million users worldwide and while the spotlight shines on its battle with Facebook and Twitter ant the ongoing enhancements it makes to its platform.

Celebrities

Google has made a concerted push to gain visibility through the acquisition of high-profile users, and that same methodology has been applied to Asia. The most pertinent example was the recent collaboration with Japanese super girl band AKB48 in December.

Hayward reveals that the girls, and there are 48 of them in the group, have accumulated more than 3.5 million followers collectively and have been quite impactful about getting people to engage with Google+ in Japan, and other parts of Asia where they are popular. Hayward cites the example of Yuko Oshima, whose 143,645 followers make her the most followed AKB48 member on Google+). Although she has considerably less followers than Britney Spears (1.6 million), Oshima’s fan engagement is considerably greater than the US popstar’s.

Though Twitter is well established in Japan, which holds Twitters record for tweets per second, and Facebook is showing signs of growth there, it took both services some time to gain traction.

Politics

Politics has been a big driver of social media adoption in Asia generally, as noted watcher Dr Michael Netzley observes, and Hayward says that Google is seeing impressive results in the area.

During the recent election in Taiwan, which drew global attention due to its links with China, Google+ usage “exploded” amongst political candidates. Indeed, the uptake was such that Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou (77,428 followers) had ten times more followers than Barack Obama, although the US President’s recent usage of the hangout feature has seen his following grow to 380,000

During the recent election in Taiwan, which drew global attention due to its links with China, Google+ usage exploded amongst political candidates.Hayward says that it isn’t entirely clear how Google+ took off amongst Taiwanese politicians, but the popularity of YouTube as a political communications tool may be key, given the work that Google has done to link its video service with the social network.

Business

Google is particularly proud of the business usages of Google+ in Asia, which has been put to work in a number of ways by NGO in particular. For Hayward, the attraction of Google+ for brands is the way that it allows them to personalise communication with customers like never before and nowhere else: It’s the ability to communicate with more than just text, and beyond 140 characters,” he says. “Brands are using video to reach customers too, maybe not everyday, but it is more than just a neat feature to have.” Google opened an office in Bangkok last year and it used its presence on the ground to run a Web education session with a number of  NGO and charities that operate in the country.

China

No talk of social media is complete without mention of China. The country recently passed half a billion Internet users and its authoritative stance on foreign Webs service — which has seen a number blocked — makes it a hugely challenging market.

While Google has insisted that China is still a key part of its plans for the region, Google+ is blocked in the country, where it is only accessible through a virtual private network (VPN) system which bypasses the Great Firewall Web censors.

However, Google does still count on the support of one of the country’s most visible social media figures, artist and political activist Ai Weiwei, whose has quickly built 47,000 Google+ followers away from his 120,000 Twitter followers.

Google showed the basics of Google+ and a number of other techniques to use data from the Internet and communicate via the Web. As a result of the sessions, Google+ hangouts were used by a number of  NGO to help puts a face on the tragedy and attraction donations to help with the fallout from the worst flooding in more than a decade.

Encouraging organic growth

Google is focusing on the markets where it is initially seeing growth, including Japan and India, and Hayward admits that it is taking a reactive position on building the social network. Rather than actively driving it, the company is watching to see where activity heats up before acting to develop it.

Lack of figures

For Hayward, the attraction of Google+ for brands is the way that it allows them to personalise communication with customers like never before and nowhere else: It’s the ability to communicate with more than just text, and beyond 140 characters, he says.

However, it just leaves us a little unsure of exactly how much interest there is compared to Facebook, which puts user numbers on its site and can be seen on Socialbakers among other places, and Twitter, which has had it user numbers approximated by country and by language of late. Google isn’t trying to take over the world, and Hayward points out that there is a place for all social networks online, and were not looking to change that.

Google’s Nexus Tablet: A Big Challenge For Android Partners

6

Google’ Android OS is still unable to lure significant number of users around the world in Tablet space. However, Amazon’s Kindle Fire—exceptional Tablet in Android’s camp—has succeeded to attract a large numbers of folks across the world. It’s not the Google’s achievement, thanks to low-price (just $199) strategy of Amazon and perfect integration of its online services surged the demand of Tablet globally in Q4 last year.

Last month, Google’s chairman—Eric Schmidt—said that the company is working on its own Tablet project–which is going to be launched in the first-half of this year. The Tablet project of the company is advancing placidly without any nuisance. The company is endeavoring to produce the Tablet at the nominal price with outstanding features. Google’s slate might be a tough competitor for its only successful Kindle Fire Tablets—available at just $199.

A 7-inch Nexus Tablet–which is powered by Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS–will be launched by Google in March or April, reported by DigiTimes last month. Google’s acquisition of Motorola Mobility is in last stage, and Google would be built its Nexus Tablet in cooperation of Motorola Mobility.

Most of the Android Tablets’ prices are hovering around iPads’ cost—$499 entry point. There’s a big question, then who will purchase $500 priced Samsung’s Tablet instead of Google’s highest quality “Slate” at enticing price of just $199.

Google’s strategy has created a dilemma among Android device manufacturer—they have decided to launch Android 4.0-based Tablets at MWC later this month. The partners are being forced by the company’s strategy to offer the Tablets at $199, and also Kindle Fires’ services. Microsoft Windows 8 is being launched this year, and the company has released its documents for their manufacturer. Microsoft has emphasized to provide a premium experience for slate/convertible irrespective of cost-efficient strategy. Besides all these, Android partners will have to face a stiff resistance from Apple’s iPad. Apple is also going to launch its high-resolution “Retina Display” Tablet this year. Definitely, a very tough competition is ahead for Android partners, and Google has itself become a big challenge.

Yahoo Plans To Launch Own Publisher Ad Network In India !

0

In last half a decade India has emerged as the centre of attraction for many companies belonging to diverse industries. It has already emerged as the strongest software development hub globally and has leapfrogged global technology giants in various arms of technology like social media, e-commerce, mobile and advertisement. Keeping close eye over the growth in Indian territory, Yahoo has decided to launch publisher ad network in India.

Though, Yahoo itself is a large publisher, it has planned to tie up with local publishers to trap more number of brands as well as companies. However, it’s still not clear that what exactly company is up to; Since, it had sold its 35 percent stake of Tyroo – an online ad network firm – to Xplorer Capital just last year.

Yahoo is contracting the publishers with the help of its “Smartads” platform which allows ‘advance retarget’ and ‘behavioral retarget’.

Interestingly, one of the advertising agency, named as Nexzenpro, has claimed that Yahoo will route their campaign through two selected Ad networks in India and one of them is Nexzenpro itself; while there is no such official confirmation on this yet. Nexzenpro had claimed that their partnership will help monetize remnant inventory.

However, none of the officials of Nexzenpro are ready to reveal more information about their tie up, nor they are ready to comment on Yahoo’s other partner.

Inquiring further with some relevant sources, it has been found that Yahoo publisher partners will need to mail weekly report to the company, and payments will be made within 60 days from the invoice date.

However, Yahoo India has not yet announced their tie up with the Nexzenpro or any other companies till date but could be done in next few weeks.

I feel Yahoo has taken a much appreciated step as India is one of the emerging e-commerce markets all across the world. Yahoo is going through rough patches these days as its revenue as well as profit has been dipping continuously from last 4 quarters. In such condition investment in India will definitely prove beneficial for the company as blogging and online information portals – dependent on online advertisement revenue model – business model is facing explosive growth.

Yahoo should have taken this step few years back as online advertising is one of the leading and profitable business model especially in Asian Territory. Also,India has been regarded as the land of opportunity and grabbing the opportunity of online advertising may help Yahoo to bounce back and re-strengthen its financial condition in coming years.
