According to a Gartner’s recent report,  India’s application development software market will surpass $225 million figure in terms of revenue by the end of 2012, up by 22.6% compare to the last year. By 2015, the mobile application development projects (for smartphone and Tablets) will crossover native PC projects by a ratio of 4:1. Besides, Gartner also predicts; by the end of 2017, at least 70 percent of new enterprise Java applications will be disseminated on an open source Java application server.

In India, an embodiment of smartphone and social networking sites has utterly changed the scenario around— especially sharing and gathering of information using web. Factors such as increasing awareness of mobile apps among users, new software module adoption and improved development methodology have revolutionized Indian mobile application development industry.

Now-a-days, large enterprises and businesses are seeking for mobile apps to have better visibility among prospective customers. However, we have already discussed the importance of optimized websites for mobile platform. In India, the rise of web access through mobile device has embolden companies to adopt mobile apps and it has fueled mobile application trend in enterprises.

The global smartphone market is going to surge with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24.9% between 2011 and 2017 and it’s also estimated that smartphone shipments will touch 1.7 billion figures by 2017, a CAGR of 6.3% during the same period. As stats are revealing, India and China are going to outburst in the smartphone shipments in coming years. According to a recent study, worldwide mobile application development market will approach $100 billion revenue by 2015, up from estimated $10.2 billion in 2010. Astoundingly, the global revenue of mobile app development industry is going to be augment with 158% CAGR and undoubtedly we can’t ignore the contribution of the world’s second largest market (India) in terms of mobile subscriptions.

Apparently, enterprise mobility has become one of the priority concerns for Indian companies whether it is small or large. Here, not only corporate but also government agencies are also more likely to incorporate cloud computing in coming days. As the opportunity is increasing on mobile platform, enterprises are adopting new business models and open source software for app development to mobilize its profit on mobile platform.

Anyway, it’s clear that the surge in the use of mobile device in India in the last couple of years has carved an mobile app development ecosystem in India. Apparently, number of mobile apps developers are also increasing in the country with dizzying pace day-by-day.
