Instagram is working on a new account type specially designed for the influencers. The creator-specific account type will allow the users to have access to the new features Instagram is reportedly working on. These features will help users to have a more in-depth understanding of their influence, followers and post popularity.
In 2016, Instagram had introduced a business profile to woo business users. With the new type of account now, Instagram has set its focus on those who are hyperactive on the platform. Digital influencers, artists and traditional talents who have been attractive millions of Instagram users on a daily basis and leading the overall engagement growth.
The creator-specific tool that would the part of the new type Instagram account, users will have access to growth Insights. The feature will allow Influencers to have a better control over its accounts and peep into the much more data that will eventually help them to reach a wider audience. Followers and unfollowers count, a direct messaging feature with a segregation option – such as friends, family and business associates – and separate labels to showcase how they want to be contacted are some of the most notable features the Instagram Influencers account holders will be benefited with.
Instagram Influencer account type of still in beta stage and being tested with a small group of users’ set. The public rollout of the account is expected early next year.
“We want to make sure that Instagram is the best place, and the easiest place, to build fan communities and also build [creators’] personal brands,” says Ashley Yuki, a product manager at Instagram.
The whole effort to introduce a new account type is being seen to push the influencers to take Instagram to the next level. By providing the customised experience, Instagram is trying to woo users who matter the most for the future growth of the platform.
Instagram currently has over 1 billion users worldwide. The impressive growth of Instagram attracted the eyeballs of Mark Zuckerberg who eventually acquired the mobile photo-sharing platform in 2012 for approximately US$1 billion. At that time the acquisition was seen as the most strategic investment ever made by Facebook. Since the acquisition, the valuation of Instagram has soared multi folds. Just a few months ago Instagram was estimated worth more than $100 billion.
