Taking step further Twitter has announced that it can make content available according to the user based on geographic location. This step might create the problem for Google, Facebook and other internet giants. As many of the countries have asked these companies to censor contents which are associated with goddess, vulgarity, and human races.

Twitter has tied up with Chilling Effects – an internet freedom advocacy web site that abides by the content take-down notices – to publish the transcribe notices. However, such practice would lead to invitation of problems for Twitter as uses of prohibited keywords are treated like secrets in some of the countries like China.

“As we continue to grow internationally, we will enter countries that have different ideas about the contours of freedom of expression”. “If and when we are required to withhold a Tweet,” or microblog post, “in a specific country, we will attempt to let the user know, and we will clearly mark when the content has been withheld, and why,” as said by Twitter.

Although, more than 21 companies are facing problems in India due to obnoxious contents and they were asked to censor comments before publishing it. However, they have denied to do so by saying that it’s not a possible to visualize contents of users before they go live. But, the announcement made by Twitter will definitely create havoc in internet industry.

As this point of time Twitter has not revEd the list of countries where it’s going to launch the new service, but said that it will be difficult to launch this service in each country as each country has its own law and issues which difficult to obey.

Interestingly, this new feature might create hurdle for other companies, standing tough againt indian goverment proposal,as they will need to implement some features or services which will look after users’ activities. Similar to Chinese web firms who have employed dozens or hundreds of employees to look after the contents of users.

Twitter will also inform it users that why they have withheld their contents.Nonetheless, its still not clear that on what background Twitter will judge the content as some contents are damn interesting instead of full of conspiracies and obnoxiousness.
The road is not that easy for Twitter either.Company will have to go through the complete rewrite of their user policies to educate millions of its users aboutTwitter need to clarify each and every information about what they should write in their contents and what they needs to be avoided.

I feel Twitter Tie-up with Chilling Effect will directly hit the market of Google, Facebook and other internet majors as these companies have directly denied to act upon censering the contents on their network. Apparently, if this process will become successful then it might result as one of the greatest success in social media history. Also, it will lead to decrements of vulgar words and cyber attack on social networking sites.
