OnePlus 7 Pro Exchange Offer Leaves OnePlus 6T Users Disappointed?

Must Read

The new OnePlus 7 Pro has caught the attention of the whole smartphone industry. Its sales have begun on Amazon.in with the e-commerce website offering discounts worth up to Rs 8,000 on exchange with a few smartphones. The previous models of the One Plus smartphones fall under this category. Even the older models like the One Plus 3 and the One Plus X are eligible for exchange. But it is not the same for the buyers of One Plus 6T, which is not eligible for discount. Is it really something that should be bothering OnePlus 6T users who have waited for OnePlus 7 series for long only to upgrade to a better OnePlus device?

Let us look at this news in a bit more detail.

The exchange program Of OnePlus 7

The exchange rates for the eligible devices topped at Rs 8,000, as mentioned earlier. While the discount on OnePlus 7 in exchange of One Plus 3 is set to Rs 4,550, OnePlus X users can avail the discount of Rs 2,950 if they wish to upgrade to OnePlus 7 series smartphones. The maximum discount on OnePlus 7 Pro – Rs 8,000 – is in fact reserved for the exchange of a One Plus 6 smartphone. Surprisingly, the company has chosen not to list the One Plus 6T for exchange at all.

The most obvious reason behind this can be the fact that the company does not intend to stop the sales of One Plus 6T yet. It is going to be available for purchase along with both the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. Besides, considering the fact that the company is offering Rs 8,000 as a discount on OnePlus 7 in exchange for OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T would have easily attracted the discount of more than Rs 10,000 – which is a sizeable amount for the company to take a hit.

The success of the One Plus 6T

The One Plus 6T has been successful ever since its launch by the company. So far, it has been one of the best selling models in its price segment, being the outright best-seller in Q1 2019 in the premium smartphone category, capturing 26% of the premium smartphone market in India.

Given the success, people might not be feeling the need to go for a more latest model of the smartphone. With the One Plus 7 Pro priced around Rs 12,000 higher than the One Plus 6T, it is natural for the company to keep the model available for purchase so as to provide the customers with a tried, tested and relatively cheap model when compared to its successors.

Worth Upgrading OnePlus 6T Now?

It is very hard to deny the fact that OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro are better smartphones than One Plus 6T across the table. But at the same time, the level of upgrades do not justify the steep increase in investment required to upgrade from OnePlus 6T to its successor. While the One Plus 6T is available in Amazon.in at Rs 32,999, the base model (6GB/128GB) of the One Plus 7 Pro is priced in the same platform at Rs 48,999. However, the base model of the One Plus 7 (6GB/128GB) is priced the same as One Plus 6T, at Rs 32,999. This makes it a very juicy proposition to buy and does provide certain upgrades on the One Plus 6T, if not many.

The One Plus 7 did not prove to be a big deal though but if you are quite fascinated about smartphone photography and want to move up to triple camera, OnePlus 7 Pro is indeed a better option to upgrade from OnePlus 6. However, considering there are other players who are all set to launch the competitors of OnePlus 7 Pro in the next few days, and most probably, would try to attract OnePlus 6T users through their exchange program, you may end up stealing a better deal.

Our suggestion to OnePlus 6T users, just wait and watch! For rest all OnePlus users, OnePlus 7 Pro is indeed a bargain at the exchange price.
