Interestingly, in just over two years, the number of full-time Amazon employees increased from just 158 by the end of December 1996 to 614 by the end of 1997. That’s representing a whopping 288.6% YoY growth in Amazon’s employee count.
By the end of 2011, the total number of Amazon employees reached 56,200, including full-time and part-time employees. That’s a whopping 66.8% YoY increase from December 2010 when the company had approximately 33,700 employees around the world.
