In Q4 2018, Twitter reported its highest-ever quarterly revenue of $908.8 million, with 24% YoY. On a quarterly basis, the revenue increased handsomely by $150.72 million registering a surge of 19.88% QoQ in Q4 2018. On the other hand, the total net income for the company during the fourth quarter of 2018 was $255.3 million, registering a 67.64% QoQ plunge, but an applaudable 180.30% YoY increase.

The breakthrough quarter for Twitter was back in Q2 2015 when the company crossed the $500-million milestone for the very first time.

One must be wondering that how in Q3 2018, the net income surpassed the revenue numbers for Twitter. But in reality, the company’s net income in Q3 2018 was a whopping $789 million for the quarter, but a lot of that was attributed to a massive ‘one-time release of deferred tax asset valuation allowance,’ which accounted for $683 million. If you take that out, Twitter’s net income was $106 million on $758 million in revenue, which was better than expected and the revenue for that quarter is $758.11 million.

Twitter posted a straight loss in its net income for over a decade. Q4 2017 is the first-ever profitable quarter (as the above graph shows) for the company.

In Q4 2013, the company suffered a huge net loss of $511.57 million.
