It has not been much time when LG Electronics faced a huge criticism and market decline from mobile handset market. Company was rubbed with some rough patches by customers, analyst and even by their own management. But in last couple of weeks, Apparently LG Electronics has turned around the wheel upside down and re-entered the market with much awaited LG Optimus range.

Recently, company has launched the Optimus One, an entry level Smartphone with Froyo (Android 2.2), specially to cater the mid segment mobile users. However, that’s is not going to be the end of the story as LG is gearing up to roar in upper class mobile handset market with “LG Star” to challenge Samsung GalaxyS, Nokia N8 and SE Xperia X10.

LG Star is suppose to be one of the most ambitious mobile handset company is currently betting upon. The upcoming handset is expected to bring back the charm towards LG handsets in mobile market as it holds some of the superior specification which is currently out of scope from any other mobile handset manufacturer. The LG Star is an Optimus branded device expected to be the first smartphone to run on a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and probably Android 2.3. It is expected to have a well-sized display measuring 4 inches, large enough to watch the videos made in HD 1080p. A 1500mAh battery powers the model which will include a microSD slot to expand storage capacity.

LG Star is loaded with Android 2.2 currently but there are fair chances to get that upgraded to Gingerbread (Android 2.3) by time it will witness the release early next year. Phone is loaded with whopping 8 megapixel camera with LED flash & Auto focus. Additional support of HDMI makes it a perfect blend to own.

We have managed to get few screenshots of upcoming LG Star (LGP-990) with benchmarking results, which may not 100% accurate, clearly showcase it as an emerging winner in Android based Smartphone market. Thanks to Android Forum.

  1. It looks like a bigger version of the LG Chic (E720). The Star will be the star…it blows the Xperia x10 and the nexus One in the Quadrant benchmarks.
