Indian Govt. All Set To Roll Out Rajya Sabha TV: Launch On November 7, 2010

The soon to be launched Rajya Sabha TV has been modelled on the lines of the government's existing channel for the lower house, Lok Sabha TV (LSTV). Rajya Sabha TV will be dedicated to the coverage of live broadcast of all the happenings of the upper house & is ready for a launch on Nov 7th, 2010. As is the case with LSTV, Rajya Sabha TV, a 24 hour channel, will also be available in both English and Hindi. The channel will also make available the proceedings of the upper house in five other regional languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Gujarati, Oriya and Urdu.

West Bengal Gets Another News Channel

Its seems like raining news channels for West Bengal. This time Mahuaa Media rolled out its Bengali news channel, Mahuaa Khobor, in West Bengal on August 30.The launch of Mahuaa Bangla takes the total number of Bengali news channels in West Bengal to nine.The launch campaign for the channel has been conceptualised and executed by none other than Rediffusion Y & R. Here's hoping that Mahua khobor succeeds in positioning itself as a news channel with difference.

Indian Readership Survey(IRS),2010,Q2 : Bengalis Still Prefer Magazines

In today’s world when more and more people are getting inclined towards internet or other electronic mediums for informative news or even a literary piece, courtesy the sudden rise of e-books, it seems that Bengali readers have maintained or regained their interest in magazines. Bengali monthly magazines, which had lost about 5.5 lakh readers in the previous quarter, have reported positive growth this time, having added 1.6 lakh readers in Q2. Except in a few categories and languages, magazines overall have seen a dip in viewership in the last several rounds. However, this quarter seems to have spelt some positive news for the magazines.

Radio Channel Changes Tagline For Nokia

To commemorate cell phone manufacturer Nokia's 15th year in India, Red FM devised an innovative activity. The radio station created a record of sorts by having the maximum number of live callers on a single day airing on Red FM's network of 47 stations across India. A countdown promo for five days culminated in the activity which took place on the d-day.The promo encouraged listeners to share their Nokia moments on Red FM on that day. And finally on July 30, 2010, all the 47 radio stations of Red FM celebrated Nokia Day for 17 hours at a stretch and Red FM's popular tagline, “Bajaate Raho”, was changed for the day to Nokia's tagline, “Connecting People”.

About 20 million unique online users visited financial and business sites in June this year in India as per the latest data released by the US based Internet research firm comScore.In the same month in 2009, financial and business sites received about 14 million unique users. As expected, 72 per cent of the visitors were male, mainly in the age group of 25-34 years.In an official communiqué, Will Hodgman, executive vice-president, Asia Pacific, comScore, says, "With India emerging as a vibrant global financial centre, online finance is beginning to attract significantly more attention and drive more transactions than ever before in this market."

Bhaskar Group All Set To launch Two New Portals

The digital arm and subsidiary of DB Corp (Dainik Bhaskar group), i-Media Corporation Limited (IMCL), is gearing up to launch two new websites. As per the afaqs,Gyan Gupta, business head, IMCL reveals that one will be an English language news portal and the other will be an education related website. Both sites are expected to go live by the end of this month. However, the URLs of these portals have not been finalised yet.

Zee To Launch Its First High-Definition Channels

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) is all set to launch its first high-definition (HD) channels in the country as reported by the afaqs news. The group is planning to launch the HD versions of an English general entertainment channel and of the Hindi movie channel, Zee Cinema.According to sources close to the development, the group is working on launching Zee Cinema HD first; and later launch the English GEC, whose name is yet to be decided.According to industry sources, the channels are expected to go on-air within two months.

UNICEF Gets Ready For Census Campaign: Calls For A Creative Pitch

According to afaqs news, recently, United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) had called for a pitch to appoint a creative partner for its pan-India campaign during the census. The biggest-ever census attempted in the history of mankind will enumerate the country's 1.2 billion population and classify Indian citizens according to their gender, religion, occupation and education.McCann Erickson, Mudra, JWT and DraftFCB Ulka are some of the agencies in the fray. The account size could not be ascertained so far, but considering the wide TG to be addressed, it is estimated to be sizable.
