The program is an integrated initiative added along with the Alexa Developer Incentive Program, which would proffer developers with fascinating and revolving goodies like devices and perky swag, as Amazon stated in a recent press release on Tuesday.

Amazon’s developer-friendly environment in India

By the end of the year in 2017, Alexa made its mark in India with around 11,000 in-built skills. And not less than 2 months of time, the Alexa India skill store went live by adding more than 1,000 new skills to it. As per the strategic count in the last one and a half year of evolution, it has doubled its total engaging skills with in-skill purchasing (ISP).

“Since we introduced Alexa in India last year, thousands of developers have published informative and engaging skills on the India store. In just over a year, the number of skills available for customers has doubled from 10,000 to more than 20,000,” said Dilip R.S., Country Manager for Alexa Skills, Amazon India.

It is reported that this huge percentage of growth is due to the fact that the developer engagement flows from Amazon’s developer-friendly access in India. Amazon has over 40,000 developers on-board now in India. Thus making India as “one of the fastest growing developer bases for the company outside of the US.” And not just qualified and proficient developers, children as young as 13 are building skills for Alexa is quite surprising.
