Reliance Jio to Offer JioFi Dongle At Just Rs 999 During The Festival Season

Reliance Jio has reduced the initial price of Jiofi dongle from Rs 1,999 to just Rs. 999/- in this festival season. The offer on Jiofi is applicable for all those buyers who would buy Jiofi dongle between September 20 and September 30, 2017.

This is not the first time when Reliance Jio has tried to lure prospective mobile internet users to its network through JioFi offer. For the last few months, Reliance Jio has been virtually offering JioFi dongle for free; Under that offer, users have to pay Rs. 1,999 to enjoy free data service and voice, equal to the price of JioFi dongle, for 12 months. Besides, until a month ago, Reliance Jio was offering its Jiofi dongle with 3-month data for Rs 999 under the exchange scheme.

Under the upcoming Rs. 999/- offer on Jiofi buyers will be entitled to unlimited calls + 2GB 4G data/day + 100 SMS/day every 28 days for 4 recharge cycles, or unlimited calls + 1GB 4G data/day + 100 SMS/day every 28 days for 6 recharge cycles.

Reliance Jio, which has over 125 million subscribers, has been trying to penetrate the market as deep as possible before the launch of Airtel and Vodafone VoLTE services. So for Reliance Jio has succeeded to capture 10.8% of the mobile subscribers market, mostly from small players.

Despite the eye-popping offers and meteoric rise of its market share Reliance Jio has failed to capture a sizeable share of premium customers, that are largely hooked to Vodafone and Airtel. According to a recently released report from by brokerage firm CLSA, 80% active subscribers of Reliance Jio came from small telecom players such as Aircel, Tata Teleservices, Telenor, Reliance Communications. The remaining subscriber base of Reliance Jio came from Vodafone and IDea Cellular.

The new offer on Jiofi dongle comes as a no surprise considering Reliance Jio is yet to acquire the committed paying customers. Most of the current paying customers have availed Reliance Dhan Dhana Dhan offer that allows them to enjoy services for 3 months by paying just Rs. 399. Reliance is apparently leaving no stone unturned to make the most of the upcoming festival season as the company has lined up many discounts offers to attracts people in the next 3 months.
