MTNL Site Hacked: Anonymous Continues Attack Over Indian Government Web Properties !

Must Read

It seems there is no ending of attacks over Indian Government web properties; this time its MTNL India website which has been hacked by global hacking group – Anonymous.

The hackers’ group has posted on MTNL site, saying “We are against Internet Cencorship. Instead of blocking few URLs the ISP blocked the whole domain of various file sharing websites. The HC Madras, DoT didn’t isssue any list of websites to be blocked still ISP supported internet censorship.”

eventually, MTNL has pulled down the site after they get intimated about the development. Currently, if you will try to access the site, it will display as “site not reachable”. However, we have managed to grab the screen shot of hacked site during the short span of hacked MTNL website.

The hacking of MTNL site is to show the protest against the blockage of various file sharing websites and video portals like vimeo who have been alleged to broadcast the illegal content. However, users across the country – along with Anonymous – are finding it difficult to digest the reaosn behind blockage of few legitimate sites like Vimeo, and Shuttershots.

Interestingly, ISPs who have supported the move – and are prime target of Anonymous – have absolute no clear justification over such move.  They cited the judgement of a court but failed to produce any further details on it.

To show their protest against blanket shut down of many sites, hacker group Anonymous has urged people to wear Fawkes Mask on June 9. People can visit Anonymous site and download, print, cut and put together all pieces of mask for the protest day.
