Intel’s quarterly operating expenses surpassed $5 billion mark for the first time in fiscal Q3 1999. The company reported nearly 15.2% YoY surge in its total expenses, clocking $5,272 million. That’s representing a whopping 71.9% of the company’s total revenue generated during the quarter.

Intel took almost 13 quarters to double its operating spending; the total operating spending clocked $10,322 million in Q4 2012, representing 76.59% of the total revenue.
