India’s traditional Personal Computing (PC) market declined for the third consecutive quarter in Q1 2019, according to IDC. About 2.15 million units of PC devices were shipped during the quarter, representing a notable 8.3% YoY decline.

HP Inc., Dell Technologies, Lenovo and Acer Group are the top companies currently dominating India’s PC market.

The overall decline in India’s PC market was due to the huge 26.5% YoY decline in India consumer PC market in Q1 2019. However, India’s commercial PC market saw a notable 7.3% YoY increase in its shipment, reached 1.35 million units.

The market leader HP Inc. accounted for a whopping 28.1% share of the total PC devices shipped in India during Q1 2019. This is slightly lower when compared to Q1 2017 and 2018. The company captured 29.5% and 28.6% shares of the overall India traditional PC market in the first quarter of 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Dell Inc. retained the second position in India’s PC market in Q1 2019, with a 25.9% shipment share. In the first quarter of 2019, Dell shipped about 557 thousand units of PCs in India in Q2 2019. That’s a significant increase of 2% YoY and a whopping 26.7% QoQ.

Lenovo is the third-largest PC vendor in India, with 25.2% shipment share as of Q1 2019. About 542 thousand units of PCs were shipped by Lenovo in India during the quarter, representing a 6.2% year-over-year and 29.2% quarter-over-quarter growth.

Acer Group remained at the fourth spot in India PC market in Q1 2019, with 11.7% share. About 252 thousand units of personal computing devices were shipped during the quarter.

Surprisingly, the share of other companies in India’s PC market declined from 14.8% in Q1 2018 to 9.1% in Q1 2019.
