When Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) first introduced iPhone X to the world in August, not many people were found excited about the features, design and specification of the device. Apple had to face extreme criticism for the lack of innovation in the new range of iPhone, including iPhone X. Barely after two months, the table has apparently turned; a long queue at the Apple Stores on the opening sales day of iPhone X and unprecedented demand proved that charm of owning an iPhone is far from over, no matter what is the price it’s tagged with. As far as innovation in iPhone is a concern, the list of 25 Best Inventions of 2017 has put the debate to rest.

Into the recently released list of 25 Best Inventions of 2017 by Time Magazine, iPhone X is recognized as one of the most innovative products of 2017, along with the personal robot Jibo, Adidas Futurecraft 4D shoe, Tesla Model 3, Oculus Go and DJI Spark drone and few other products.

Introduced with a headline “A Smarter Smartphone” Time Magazine see enough merits to list a smartphone first time ever. Time quotes Dan Ricco, SVP of Hardware Engineering – Apple, who sees iPhone X as the device Apple always wanted to make for a very long time.

Time also quote Jonathan Ive, Apple’s chief design engineer, who believes that every innovation comes at a cost. Ive explains that Apple’s focus was to make the most adorable iPhone, the company has ever made and to reach the level of imagination, it was important to take some risky decisions. The transition from Home Button and 3.5-mm headphone jack were made by looking at the future, he justifies.

“There’s a financial consequence to integrating the sheer amount of processing power into such a small device,” says Ive.

The inclusion of Apple iPhone X in the Time’s list has caught the eyeballs of many. It is the very first time when any smartphone is found worthy enough to compete with the many much appreciated innovative products, such as Nest Secure security system, Molekule air purifier, Norton Core router and VICIS Zerol football helmet.

The Bionic Chipset in Apple X is indeed one of the greatest achievements of Apple. Besides, the camera of iPhone X for still images is rated as the finest quality stills captured by any smartphone. The world’s most trusted digital image processing company DXOMark has rated iPhone X on top of the list of best smartphone for images with 101 points.

Besides iPhone X, the most surprising listing is of Fidget spinner. Tagged as “The Ultimate Distractor” Fidget spinners is known as the most harmless distraction or wreaking havoc in classrooms. It has also emerged as one of the most harmless addictions of 2017. People around the has created various world records with fidget spinners. A Japanese bearing company NSK has built a longest-running fidget spinner for a duration of 12 minutes or more.
