Google Glasses Are Available For Just $1,500: Be An Early Adopter !

It’s no news that Google is working on project, knows as Google Glasses, to redefine the magic of virtual images and that too closer to your eyes. It’s been some time when the sneak preview leaked out first time and now with the latest update, its confirmed that Google Glasses project development has been concluded and the product is ready to hit the market.

Google is seeking for early adopters of Google Glasses who could not only prove themselves as the early ‘evaluators’ of Google Glasses but also looking for shell out whopping $1,500 (plus taxes) for be the one. However, being a heavy pocket is not the only criteria to opt Google Glasses as Google has ensured to fish out big pocket but bad evaluators. The search giant has launched a website to apply for being an early adopter of internet connected Google Glasses.

This time Google has initiated a step to check the pulse of end users. In last Google I/O developers conference, Google did provide the same opportunity to set of developers. In a strict non-disclosure agreement, all selected developers were provided a single pair of Glasses along with API to get their hands-on and submit their feedback post experience.

However, Google is targeting end users to ensure the success of Google Glasses and the latest initiative is the result of such thought. In last summer, Google staged a demonstration of skydivers wearing Google Glasses to transmit the live experience of journey “sky to earth”. Though, the whole world acclaimed the initiative, the success of any new invention always lies in mass adoption of product/service. Therefore, Google is trying to justify the presence and need of Google Glasses in normal life.

Personally, I do see lots of challenges for Google to justify the need for general users. In early stage of Google Glasses revelation, we did trigger a discuss about the need of Google Glasses. To inspire people, Google has posted a new video justifying the presence and demonstrating the capabilities of Google Glasses among normal people.

Examples of Google Glasses in normal scenario, like spoken commends to perform activity, spoken commands to enter Google Search Query and then see the result on Glasses, are really impressive but the question still remains the same – a wide acceptance of such path-breaking product.

Google is accepting the entry for invitation only till February 27 and the selected candidates will have to travel for “special Glass distribution event” to be held in New York or San Francisco to collect the same. Google said that it will notify those selected users by mid of March. Interestingly, when spoke about public release of Google Glasses, the company selected to stay tight-lipped leaving the room of speculation of  being it available any time in second quarter of 2013.
