Twitter start progressing towards Revenue Generation roadmap

Recently Twitter had disclosed its revenue generation model to the investors who were reportedly loosing confidence in revenue generation capability of twitter. Moving further on the same road-map, Thursday, Twitter announced about acquisition of Smallthought Systems, a data company that it has worked with in the past.

Microsoft’s Web-based Office goes live

Officially joining the browser-based productivity game, Microsoft late Monday released the browser-based versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. The Office Web Apps, as the programs are dubbed, are slimmed down versions of the desktop counterparts, allowing for document viewing, sharing, and lightweight editing.

Google buys display ad auctioneer Invite Media

Google has confirmed the acquisition of Invite Media, a display advertising company that helps connect buyers and sellers of display advertising. Search advertising pays the bills at Google, but it has targeted display advertising as a growth opportunity for several years, starting with its acquisition of DoubleClick. Google announced the Invite Media buy on its DoubleClick blog Thursday, after MediaMemo reported news of the pending acquisition Wednesday for around $70 million.

Microsoft responses to Microsoft’s shutdown at Googleplex

Despite no official acknowledgement from Google that it's ditching Microsoft's Windows operating system, Microsoft felt compelled to respond Tuesday. Despite of no official confirmation from Google, Microsoft released a blog post Tuesday afternoon defending Windows security and pointing out that security concerns helped derail a Gmail deployment at Yale University.
