Google Quarterly Ad Revenue by Property Type

The below graph represents the quarterly distribution of Google advertising revenue by property type, starting from fiscal Q1 2002 to the recently completed quarter. Over 84% of the company's advertising revenue in Q4 2019 generated from ads placed on Google's own properties, which include Google Search & other properties and YouTube.

The above graph represents the Google quarterly ad revenue by property type, starting from fiscal Q1 2002 to the recently completed quarter. Google’s advertising revenue reached an all-time high of $37,934 million in Q4 2019. Over 84% of that generated on Google’s own properties (including Google Search & other properties and YouTube). Google properties revenue increased an appreciable 18.5% YoY in Q4 2019, to an all-time high of $31,902 million. The growth was primarily driven by YouTube.

Google Network Members’ properties revenue touched $6,032 million mark, with an increase of 7.8% YoY.

Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, generates advertising revenue from ads that placed on Google properties (including Google.com, the Google Search app, YouTube, Google Play, Gmail and Google Maps) and Google Network Members’ properties (participating in AdMob, AdSense, and Google Ad Manager).

In August 2015, Google became a wholly-owned subsidiary of AlphabetAlphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) replaced Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) as the publicly-traded entity and all shares of Google automatically converted into the same number of shares of Alphabet, with all of the same rights.

On September 1, 2017, Alphabet announced a new holding company XXVI Holdings Inc. to manage its “Other Bets”. At the same time, Google announced its plans of restructuring as a limited liability company, Google LLC, as a wholly owned subsidiary of XXVI Holdings Inc.

Sundar Pichai is currently the chief executive officer (CEO) of Alphabet Inc. and its subsidiary Google LLC.
