As the number of Amazon Prime subscribers increased over the last few years, the revenue from subscription services also increased.

Interestingly, in December 2018, the number of Amazon US Prime members surpassed the $100-million mark for the first time. Approximately 9 million new people started using Amazon’s Prime membership in the US between December 2017 and 2018.

Amazon introduced its Prime membership program in Q1 2005, in which members receive free two-day shipping and discounted overnight shipping for $79. In the next 10 years, Amazon successfully added 41 million new US members in its Prime membership club.

As the graph shows, the number of US Amazon Prime Members more than doubled in just two years – from just 25 million in December 2013 to a whopping 54 million in December 2015. This was the first time when Amazon US Prime subscribers count crossed the 50-million mark.
