HP Inc., Lenovo, Dell Inc., Apple and Acer Group are the top five companies dominating the worldwide PC market as of June 2019.
Surprisingly, 2018 was the 7th consecutive year when the global PC market witnessed a year-over-year decline in its shipments.
HP and Lenovo, each captured a 23.2% share of the global PC market in Q2 2019. However, HP remained the PC market leader with nearly 60 million (59,986 thousand units to be specific) personal computing devices shipped in Q2 2019. It was 2011 when HP’s PC shipments reached an all-time high of 62.3 million units, worldwide.
Meanwhile, Lenovo (including Fujitsu) also shipped nearly 60 million units (59,857 thousand units to be specific) globally – highest-ever to date.
With 17.1% share, Dell Inc remained the world’s third-largest PC vendors in terms of shipments and market share. Dell’s worldwide PC shipments grew 5.6% YoY in Q2 2019, to 44.2 million units.
Apple and Acer Group, each captured nearly 7% share in the worldwide PC market in Q2 2019. The Cupertino giant registered a notable 5.2% year-over-year decline in its 2018 Mac PC shipments, globally. Both desktop and notebook shipments declined in the fourth quarter of 2018. In fact, due to the declining sales of its products, the company has even decided to stop revealing their sales figures from the first fiscal quarter ends Oct-Dec 2018.
On the other hand, Acer Group’s PC shipments declined 1.1% YoY in the second quarter of 2019.
