Must Read

Yes, it is that time of the year again. Flipkart‘s 4-day festival, the Big Billion Days sale, is finally back again. Although competition for Flipkart has definitely increased in the e-commerce category in the recent years, the Big Billion days are treated with the same fanfare that they were on their first instance of occurring. And one of the major commodities sold in this online festival is smartphones. Therefore, the people at Flipkart make sure that the mobile phone category is home to some of the juiciest deals in the whole 4-day festival. And, as is reportedly the case, the discounts offered on some phones go up to an eye-watering 62%!

The Smartphone Deals Worthy of the Icing On the Cake

This year, the quality of the discounts offered on the smartphones, as well as, the quality of the smartphones the discount is being offered on, is simply great. Instead of compromising on discounts to get the smartphones that we want to have, Flipkart has made it possible to offer massive discounts on the best of the smartphones out there.

One of the standout deals to be on offer on the Big Billion Days is that of the not too old Samsung Galaxy S8 (64 GB). Samsung has been selling it at Rs 49,000 a unit currently. However, come the Big Billion Days, Samsung has confirmed that they will be offering a discount worth a whopping Rs 20,000 on this smartphone. Its price is going to be reduced to Rs 29,000.

“Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S8 (64GB) will be available at a price of Rs 29,990 after a flat discount of Rs 20,000,” Samsung said in a statement.

Amidst all the other smartphone manufacturers, Panasonic offers the largest discount on its 4G smartphone, the P91. Originally listed to be sold at Rs 7,990, the price of the P91 is going to fall down to Rs 2,990 during the Big Billion Days, offering a discount of 62% on the MRP.

The Honor series of smartphones is also in line to be sold at ridiculously low amounts. The most notable one among them is that of the Honor 8 Pro, one of their more acclaimed smartphone models. It will have its price slashed from Rs 29,999 right down to Rs 19,999, offering a discount worth a humongous Rs 10,000 straight.

Budget Smartphones – The Ultimate Selling Point?

The smartphone market in India has been recently taken over by budget smartphones, as well as budget smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi. Flipkart is no stranger to this, with its Senior Director – Mobiles reporting a 100% increase in the sale of budget smartphones from its last Big Billion Days sale until now. He, Ayyappan Rajagopal, also gave forth the interesting statistic that Flipkart’s share on the online sale of smartphones in India is a significant 65% as of now. More so, over the festive period, this market share is expected to go up to 70-75%.

Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale: Better Than Ever Before?

Last year, the profits incurred during the Big Billion Days sale wasn’t like that of its previous years. One of the major reasons thought to be behind this was because the people of the country were still affected by the government’s financial decisions like those regarding GST and demonetisation. However, this year is thought to be different. Or at least that’s what the analysts at Forrester Research think. Satish Meena, their senior analyst, was quoted saying that the e-commerce companies are going to experience an increment of 30-40% this year when compared to last year.

The Flipkart Big Billion Days sale will start at midnight on the 10th of October and will go on until the 14th. Make sure to be there to experience some of the best online deals available during the year.
