Must Read

Like its parent company Huawei, Honor, a leading smartphone e-brand, is also showing remarkable sales performance. The sales of Honor 10, the recently launched model, is skyrocketing even after 3 months of its debut. Over 3 million units of Honor 10 devices were sold since its launch just a couple of months ago. Overall, Honor has witnessed a record 150% YoY growth in international sales volume, outside of China in the first half of 2018.

The Skyrocketing Sales of Honor 10

Honor 10 was launched in April and within months of its launch, it has shown exceptional sales performance. It comes with a 5.8-inch screen and an octa-core Huawei Kirin 970 processor. The smartphone was equipped with Android 8.1 Oreo and has a dual rear camera with 16 MP and 24 MP lenses. The front-facing camera is 24 MP.

There are many reasons as to why it became an instant hit among the people, one of them being its pricing. In India, it was launched with a price tag of Rs 32,999. Soon Honor 10 got the heads turning as the smartphone came with the premium feature but positioned in the mid-price-range segment. Its features gave competition to the major brands such as Apple and Samsung. While it has the feel of Samsung Galaxy S8 with its front and back glass, it offeres great performance and battery life. The newly released smartphone immediately became the talk of the town with its premium features and reasonable pricing.

Highlights From Honor 10 Global Success

Within just three months of its launch, Honor 10 has become the most-selling flagship smartphone ever in many countries. In Russia, Honor 10, price tagged between RUB25,000 and 30,000, ranked among the top five best-selling smartphones in the GfK Hitlist. In fact, in May 2018, Honor had surpassed Apple to became the second most popular smartphone brand in Russia, in terms of sales volume.

In France, Honor 10 was the second best-selling smartphone online and the sixth best-selling smartphone in retail sales in the month of May.

“At Honor, we’re delighted to see that our dedication to delivering unrivalled innovation and user experience at an unbeatable value has been recognized and met with such enthusiasm by users all around the world. Our strong performance globally so far in 2018 puts us in a strong position to meet our goal of being a top-three global smartphone brand within five years.” – said Mr George Zhao, President of Honor.

Interestingly, Honor is also one of the fastest growing smartphone brands in India. In just six months of 2018, the company has witnessed a whopping 300% increase in its sales volume and revenue. Interestingly, Huawei Honor 9 Lite was among India’s online top-selling smartphone in Q1 2018.

Huawei, which includes the sub-brand Honor, has become the fifth biggest smartphone vendor in India replacing Lenovo, with a total of 3.4 % market share in Q4 2017.

In its home country China, Honor ranks number one in the smartphone e-brand category owing to the great sales online. According to Sino Market Research, Honor has sold 18.07 million units of devices between January and April 2018. During the recent “618 Shopping Festival” on JD in China, Honor achieved highest sales between June 1 and 18.

Future Plans

It’s apparent that Honor is aiming to expand its global presence. This year, the brand was introduced in Colombia, Egypt, Indonesia, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Honor has a long-term plan in sight and aims that in the next five years it will become one of the top three smartphone brands. This will give Huawei, Honor’s parent brand a larger market share and may also lead to the ultimate removal of Samsung as the top smartphone brands and the crowning of Huawei with this title.

Huawei is reportedly aiming to ship around 200 million smartphones this year, including its Honor brand. Interestingly, about 70 million of them are expected to be in China.

If all goes well and the smartphone brand continues to come up with quality smartphones in the reasonable price range it is very much possible that Honor may be able to able this goal soon enough.
