Is Facebook Inc. (FB) Testing ‘Twitter+Facebook Status Update’ Button ?

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) is testing another feature that will allow Facebook users to post their status updates on Facebook and micro-blogging website Twitter by a single click. The new feature, though, is apparently under limited roll out in a form of button just before Post button at below Status Update text box. Facebook users who also have presence over Twitter can link their Twitter account with Facebook and can update both the networks by a single click using “Twitter + Fb” button.

It’s still not clear whether the feature is under the beta roll out or launched only to few users to test. However, the proposed feature could be really useful for social media users as majority of them also keep up their presence on various other social networks including Twitter. The new feature will refrain such social media users to update their Facebook and Twitter profile separately.

We have tried to reach out to Facebook PR department to get some more clarify on the new initiative. While we are posting this information, we haven’t received any official reply from them yet.

The new feature would really boost the performance of socially addicted users who aggressively update their Facebook and Twitter profiles. However, the new feature will also kill the presence of many social tools that are providing the similar functionalities till now unofficially.

Many business process expert feels that this could potentially damage Twitter’s engagement ratio. And, it would be interesting to see how Twitter reacts to Facebook’s latest initiative. At the same time many don’t rule out a possibility of a mutual tie-up between the two social networks and if similar type of button appears on Twitter too.

Update 1 (2:10 PM, GMT +5.30): The button has disappeared now !!! No clue whether its was unintended roll out, limited testing or something else. We are investigating the issue and shall be back with more information.
