Last five years were really a nightmare for Yahoo; a half-dozen CEO came and left the company during this period. Finally, Yahoo’s responsibility were entrusted under the leadership of Marissa Mayer on July 16, 2012. Previously, I have already described how Yahoo’s new CEO could pull out Google’s talent pool by leveraging its contacts.

After being the CEO at Yahoo, Marissa Mayer announced numbers of privileges for the employees such as free iPhone for every employee and free food in Yahoo’s cafeterias for all full time employees. But what she is trying to do by offering such privileges to employees?  It’s true, nothing is free in the world, everything has some value. Of course, she wants to keep the lights on later in Yahoo’s offices and also, she is trying to make the company more attractive and productive place for the work.

Mayer wants to bring a real changes in the Yahoo’s office and what she is doing is much simpler and deeper than those were done before. She is expecting a lot from the employees and endeavoring to propel them to do hard and fast for the company.  Yes, the ‘iPhones and munchies’ are being served at Yahoo because she wants hard and smart works from employees.

It’s also said that Marissa Mayer used an Apple’s iPhone while she was at Google ,and this time, she wants every employee at Yahoo use the same phone at workplace. She wants to use Yahoo’s considerable cash reserve to buy at least one iPhone for every employee. However, rumors are also revealing that  she is also open in the sense of using Android smartphones at the workplace. Indeed, it’s his attempt to achieve a common and advanced platform in order to establish a better communication channel inside the company.

At present, Yahoo employee are using all sorts of variant devices powered by different OSes such as BlackBerry, iOS, Android and more. Mayer believes that the company could perform better if it identifies one device/platform–a platform on which company could really for outburst or shine. It’s clear that BlackBerry will no longer as the official devices at the Yahoo. She would even fire to whom those will protest to not use iPhone or Android smartphone.

Mayer wants to win the race by upgrading its internal IT and revamping its development system and tools what a modern startups use. Definitely, the new CEO is endeavoring to create a working environment for her employees at Yahoo.
