India Generates Maximum Number of Email Spams In The World [Report]

Must Read

Spamming has become one of the biggest issues online, especially the spams sent via emails. It’s already a known fact that clicking an unknown link in the email by an unknown person, simply means that you are most probably on the verge of compromising either your account or your system privacy.

Email spamming has led to the raise in the security measures taken by the email service providers, and it is not enough.

Recently according to Sophos (Security firm), it has found out the world’s top spam transmitting countries and stamped a statement that India is the top contributor of the “junk e-mail” problem.

Email Spamming from different countries:

India is in the top country responsible for spam relay with 11.4%. Italy is in the 2nd position with 7% spam relay. South Korea and USA, are close to each other with 6.7 and 6.2% respectively.

Percentage of spams from India is greater than the collective spams from countries like Taiwan, Poland, Russia and France. In fact as per Sophos, if there is a spam in the inbox, there is more than 1 in 10 probability of spams, sent from India.

Also as most of the computers are not secure enough in India, so there is a high chance for the hackers and spammers from other countries to affect Indian computers, eventually turning them into botnets (affected system which is further utilized to spread virus).

Email spamming from different continents:

Astonishingly, Asia is very high in the percentage of spam being sent. About 49.7% of spam transmission was recorded from Asia alone, which is nearly half of the total percentage of spams relayed from various regions of the world. Asia has become a hub for online spamming. Moreover hackers are targeting Android devices for spreading malwares and such issues can also be found in China too.

Even spams from European computers accounts for a higher percentage of 26.4%, which is greater than the spam transmitted from the continents like South America, North America and Africa.

No matter how strong the developers seem to “firewall” the viruses, malwares, spams etc, hackers always have been successful in “breaking the ice” and finding out the vulnerability of the system. Moreover a lot of users are not aware of the fact the their computer’s has become one of the botnets. The lack of information regarding the essential security measures, is to be blamed. It is better to un-subscribe unwanted and suspicious mail groups and avoid clicking on unknown links.
