A significant number of rumors are speculating that Facebook might launch its Mobile Phone next year. Currently, more than 83 million users around the world are accessing the social media network on their mobile devices through Facebook mobile app or mobile-optimized version of the website. A research analysis firm has revealed that users are spending an average of 441 minutes of their time on Facebook every month. Smartphone users’s engagement on Facebook is quite higher than other platforms and it’s also considered as most popular apps on the Android and iOS devices.
Besides, an access of Facebook app on mobile devices is increasing in the emerging markets with galloping pace day-by-day. India has become second largest country in terms of Facebook user after the U.S., followed by Indonesia and Brazil respectively. Recently, I have elaborated that 48.87% folks in India are accessing internet through their mobile devices especially through web-enabled feature phones.
A research Analysis firm “Nielsen” has reportedly stated that 93% Android Smartphone users in the country are accessing social networking sites on their mobile devices. In the country, Facebook has become one of the most popular Smartphone apps, second after searching engine.
In India, folks use to access the social networking site via FB App, installed on their Smartphone,–which provide a seamless access of the social networking site on mobile devices. The above chart is clearly demonstrating that users are accessing Facebook five times higher on their mobile device compare to its nearest competitor Google+.
Surprisingly, one out of three Facebook users does not use any other social networking site on their Smartphone. According to the survey, in April of this year, users access “Facebook” an average of 17 days out of 30 days, and an average daily time spent on the app was 12 minutes per user in the month.
Undoubtedly, a rapid growth of social media and strong adoption of Smartphone have influenced social networking sites on mobile phones. However, to monetize mobile Facebook app, is one of the major challenge for the social networking site.
