Was Apple Forced To Release Siri As A ‘Deficient Product’ ?

Must Read

Although, “Siri” is considered as one of the innovative natural voice-activated personal assistant, but Apple insiders don’t think so. However, a significant number of comparisons are available in the market between Apple’s ‘Siri’ and other voice recognition apps. Recently, I have described how Samsung’s “S Voice” is better than Apple’s ‘Siri’.  There’s a linger discussion over Apple’s voice recognition app whether it’s really outstanding or occupied with lots of demerits. The reason is quite obvious, ‘Siri’ has still number of debilitation especially in the case of launching apps and browsing the web. However, I have no doubt about the potential of the voice-activated personal app but its inability to perform such easy tasks, has risen number of questions about its dexterity.

It has been a tradition  of Apple, prior to launching any new software products, it has always released a beta version. But, it has not released any beta version for “Siri”.  I don’t know why Apple has not launched beta version of  “Siri” in the market? There might be a limitation for the company because a significant number of Smartphones were to be launched by different manufactures in Q4 of the last year and the company did not like to disclose its secret project prior to launch of iPhone 4S. However, the company had stuck with the copycatting of iPhone model throughout the last year. The company was afraid with disclosing of the idea and also wanted to concatenate an innovative voice recognition app in the latest model (iPhone 4S) in order to prove that it’s thinking beyond the expectation of other contemporary handset manufacturers.

Apple’s employees have expressed that Siri has been launched meanwhile the project–before accomplishment of the project–and lots of things were to be integrated.  One of the Apple employee has even said that Steve Jobs would have lost his mind for launching “Siri”.

A member of Siri Development team, Ash Furrow, said, “It’s not a done product yet. Apple released it as beta and Apple just does not do public betas.  But for Siri, they had to make an exception. I don’t think they did the best job of managing people’s expectations. It’s going to be an improving thing that gets better over time so bear with us, it gets better. Instead, they kind of portrayed it as a magical product.”

A majority of users have complained that the time of response of the device is pathetic. Still, there’s a requirement to improve the algorithms. Undoubtedly, numbers of users around the world have different dialects, so the app should have been tested over a significant number of  peoples. It’s mandatory to release at least a Beta version whether app is working properly or not. But, an employee of Apple has revealed that the company has experimented the app over just couple dozens of peoples and launched the app in Q4 of the last year.

Anyway, it’s not trustworthy to declare Apple’s Siri as a “magical product”. Previously, I have already illustrated that “Siri” does not support the third party apps, however, it might be a strategy of the company. But, not responding or unable to perform a simple task, might jeopardize apps credibility in the market. Indeed, Apple needs to work on its app if it wants to compete with upcoming voice recognition apps such as Google Assistant.
