Apple iPhone 12: Not For India And You Must Not Fall Prey To Apple’s Marketing Machine

One side where Apple claims that there are more than 25 billion apps have been downloaded and its “Apple App Store” is currently possessing over 550,000 apps, while on the other side, Nokia is claiming that there are over 13 million apps are being downloaded every day from its “Nokia Store”–previously known as Ovi Store. Nokia Store has now more than 100,000 apps and 100 million registered customers. The company has gathered the figure across Nokia’s 40 feature phones and Symbian Smartphones.

It’s astounding me a lot that Nokia has recently decided to abandon Symbian platform, however, the company adopted Windows Phone platform to manufacture next generation Smartphones in the beginning of last year when Stephen Elop became new CEO. Some emerging markets such as India where Nokia is dominating over all mobile handset manufacturers. Folks in India are still more relying to work on the Nokia’s Symbian platform rather than Windows Phones last year. It’s quite known that the company sold more number of Symbian-based Smartphone than Windows Phone. In India, 31% of the market was dominated by Nokia last year, followed by Samsung and Micromax with 15% and 5% respectively.

Recently, the company is facing challenges from some other cheap Smartphone manufactures like Samsung, HTC and LG. The demand of Android based Smartphones is continuously augmenting with dizzying pace quarter-over-quarter.

Nokia wants to be continued with Microsoft’s Windows Phone and that’s why the company has decided to introduce its Tablet later this year. Both, Nokia and Microsoft have a great expectation from Windows 8 OS. However, one million of Windows 8 consumers’ preview were downloaded across the world within 24 hrs after announcing at MWC last month.

A recent report has stated that Windows Phone has succeeded to grows its market share in some of the countries like the UK, Italy, Germany, and more. In UK, the market share of Windows Phone grew to 2.5% in the last month, up from 0.5% in the same month a year before.

It’s nice to hear that Nokia has surpassed 13 million app downloads every day. However, the company has not yet conferred the stats of app downloads from its Windows Phone based Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 Smartphones.
