Google: Android Activation Rate Has Reached To 850,000 Devices Per Day

Must Read

Android’s  popularity is increasing with dizzying pace day-by-day. In beginning of this year, Android founder and Google’s senior vice President of mobile Andy Rubin said 700,000 Android devices are being activated per day. But, according to recent announcement from Google on Monday at MWC, Android devices activation has reached to 850,000 per day.

Google has announced, the amount of apps content in Android Market is quite nigh to Apple’s App Store. Apple App Store is currently acquiring 550,000 apps followed by Android Market with 450,000 apps. Andy Rubin wrote that the number of Android apps on the company’s online marketplace has nearly been tripled from 160,000 since a year ago.

Last year, Google announced that 1 billion apps are being downloaded every month by over 800 different devices since the launched of its OS in 2008. Andy Rubin has also noted that platform adoption rate has been grown up by 250 % year-over-year. The Android devices being used around the world has surpassed 300 million—12 million of which includes Tablets. Rubin said that the number of devices has been allocated after counting the unique ID of each devices for once activation—excluding Kindle fire which withholds Google’s services.

Android has gathered a vast number of apps in its Market place but it is still behind Apple App store in the number. Apple has recently acquired chomp—a app search engine—in order to revamp and make more competitive to its App Store than Android Marketplace. However, the Android device activation has indiscriminately augmented, but, it’s still low in the tablet segment. There are numbers of different version of Android OS since 2008 running on different devices, despite of these; users feel nostalgic towards its Tablet. However, Kindle Fire has little struggled to maintain the dignity of Android platform.

Gingerbread is considered as the most successful version of the Android OS, dominated 58.6% of all Android market. While Android’s most advanced version Ice Cream Sandwich has just occupied 1% of total Android market. It’s quite worthy to talk about Android Honeycomb, which has little bit succeeded to grab 3.4% of total Android market share.

It quite obvious, Android apps have played vital role in its device activation. However, a recent survey stated that Android apps are more expensive than iOS apps and also it’s more malware affected. Due to low-price availability of device, android has prevailed worldwide—every second smartphone purchase is Android. Anyway, I think, Android device activation per day would also be increased later this year due to its bullish proliferation worldwide.
