Mozilla Firefox 5 : Is It Worth Downloading On Your Android ?

Must Read

Mozilla Firefox 5 is out for both PC and Mobile platforms. Mozilla Firefox is one of the best and globally acclaimed browser for PC platform. Some of the amazing features of Firefox are Blazing fast browsing, supports customization through hundreds of add-ons, perfectly designed themes, support for flash player and many more . But is the mobile version of Mozilla Firefox codename ‘Fennec’ worth downloading on your mobile. Mozilla Fennec is trying to compete with Dolphin and Opera as its main rivals in mobile platform though both of the rivals are satisfying their users very well by providing them best in industry features, super duper performance with amazingly fast browsing.

Browser like Dolphin has a stable support for flash videos through which one can not only easily watch videos online but without any crashes too. Mozilla Firefox released its latest version 5.0 to be in the competition but interestingly this latest version of Fennec still misses flash support which is the huge drawback in its part. Though Mozilla is claiming that Firefox is awesome and packed with lot of features that will make Mobile Firefox or Fennec favourite of all.

Some of the features bundled with Fennec as explained by Mozilla are :
The browser Fennec is built upon the same processing engine that PC version of Firefox is built upon and also optimized for mobile platform thus its performance is great. It supports location-aware browsing, on enabling which, the websites will show your current location. Fennec has a built-in Download Manager same as that we have in PC version. This Download Manager allows users to pause, stop or resume the download whenever one wants. Firefox will automatically let you know about the updates as soon as they are available online. Security preferences like Passwords, Private Data, Cookies, installing add-ons etc. can easily be accessed.

Firefox is capable of giving an overview of site’s identity that whether site is what it says to be. This latest version of Fennec supports HTML5,CSS and JavaScript web standards so developers can easily create best in class applications with support for features like auto screen orientation, camera usage, geolocation etc. Mozilla claims that Fennec uses multi-core CPU’s for its processing need so its much faster than its previous versions. Fennec has superfast JavaScript engine which uses JaegorMonkey compiler and which is optimized for ARM processors. It uses a technology called Electrolysis which improves the performance and stability of the browser. It is equipped with Layers technology which improves the graphics performance and also scrolling, zooming and animations.

Though Fennec is empowered with so many features but in reality it’s not that speedy in comparison to other rivals. Delay in functions like Scrolling and zooming adds into its list of disadvantages. Latest version of Fennec supports themes and personalization but what to do of themes when browser is not capable of doing  what it is meant for. The biggest drawback is that the browser doesn’t have support for flash videos. The JaegorMonkey compiler is not capable with ARM V7 processors so mobiles having these processors like Samsung Galaxy 3 cannot use it. Whereas mostly all the features are available in browsers like Dolphin but its performance is also amazing, which is important.

So in my opinion I don’t think that mobile version of Mozilla Firefox 5 should be used for browsing. People go for Dolphin which is a much better option than Fennec.

I really appreciate PC version of Mozilla Firefox 5 because its performance is remarkable and looks are also awesome. Mozilla please give us some really working Browser for android.
