Speculations have already been there about the September debut of iPhone 5 and iPad 3 may come shortly after that. According to latest rumors, suppliers and component manufacturers of both the devices have started gearing up for production. Apple is expected to launch a small batch of iPhone 5 in third quarter which may will gradually increase in next few months.
According to DigiTimes, Â iPhone 5 will be announced in September and might be released in October, with 6-7 million units being produced for the third quarter. Considering the holiday season and time frame in release, Apple is expected to see great response from market towards iPhone 5.
Last couple of weeks web world has flourished with the rumours about iPhone 5 and its specifications. It has been said that the fifth version of iPhone will have larger screen (probably 4.3 inches), an improved camera with dual LED flash and possibly NFC capabilities. And, if it comes out correct, it makes sense for Apple as Android is slowly narrowing gap between smartphone and small inch screen with the presence of Galaxy S II and Dell Streak.
Apple is expected to ship 24 -25 million iPhone handsets in third quarter this year and the same would be maintained in next quarter. The overall shipment of iPhone in 2011 is expected to record close to 85 million this year.
However, there is not much heard about the next version of iPad – iPad3. Also, it would be surprising to see the launch of iPad 3 in just seven months of iPad 2 launch without any significant improvement or difference in both the version of iPad.
Since Apple is also set to start supplying iPad 3 in August, the shipments of iPad series products including iPad 2 are expected to surpass 15 million units, and iPad’s supply volume for 2011 will have a good chance to break 40 million units.
On the other hand many market analysts play down such numbers due to slower-than-expected process at Foxconn assembly line in China which is responsible for major chuck of iPhone and iPad production. According to the, iPhone supply volume with only reach 20 million units in the third quarter, 20% lower than expected. Similarly, iPad supply volume will witness 30% downfall to settle down with 11 -12 million shipments during same period.
With the third version of iPad, Apple is considering designing an even thinner and lighter tablet PC with its panel resolution increasing to 250 dpi, the sources added.
