Why Is Apple Dominating in Enterprise Users Segment-Despite Android’s Massive Adoption?

Must Read

Google’s Android may be riding high with recent success and massive adoption by most of the mobile devices manufacturers, like Samsung, LG, Acer, Toshiba, Motorola and Sony Ericsson, but Apple’s iOS has emerged as most preferred mobile platform among enterprise users. Apple has dominated the Enterprise Tablet and Smartphone segment with sizable margin and iPad has emerged as most preferred device for communication.

As per Intermedia, a Microsoft Exchange hosting provider, 61% of all ActiveSync – capable Smartphones activated by its 320,000 enterprise customers were iPhones, compare to only 17 devices on Android. Surprisingly, iPad has carried out the number which is far better than any of its closest competitors in Tablet segment for enterprise users.

In Smartphone story, Apple grew its market share to 64% in April while Android managed to double only to reach 33% of all devices bought online during the month. Intermedia don’t measure the market share of BlackBerry devices as it doesn’t support ActiveSync.

In Tablet segment Apple has almost wiped out competition. Apple’s iPad recorded 900 and 1,200 activation in the month of March and April, as noticed by Intermedia. Apple secured 99.8% of all new Tablet activations only to leave tiny fraction for other devices like Smasung Galaxy Tab, Motorola Xoom and Huawei X7.

Apple’s success in the enterprise can be attributed to its ability to bring the iPad to market as a finished product with a smooth and dependable user experience, something Google has been unable to do thus far with its Android operating system. Enterprise IT is far less likely to take risks on an unproven platform than consumers, and while Android is a proven hit with consumers; it still hasn’t shown itself to be on par with iOS in terms of OS stability, regardless of whether you’re looking only at tablets, or at smartphones as well.

There are reports to point security issues with Android platform which have become major blow to Google. In the ecosystem of enterprise communication and information, companies don’t prefer work with less secure environment due to severity of the data. Finally, Android OS fragmentation is a considerable issue when it comes to being able to provide comprehensive IT support.

Indeed, Android is slowly narrowing gap with Apple but when in various aspects of mobile industry but Apple has done pretty decent job by maintaining growth and magnetism among enterprise users industry. By this year-end, it would be interesting to see how Apple and Google will stand with their market share with every aspect of mobile Industry
