Facebook is Down For Hours [Update: 10 Hours Still Down] [Update 3: Facebook Up]

Must Read

Facebook appears to be suffering some serious downtime troubles right now. Twitter users are reporting that the service has been unreachable for hours in countries including India, Sweden and Norway.

When we try to access the service ourselves in the India, we’re experiencing a white-out page that never loads. The issue doesn’t appear to be based on location. Fellow users in the India are reporting a mixture of successful and unsuccessful connections for both the website and iPhone app.

Running Traceroute commands on the connection to Facebook, we’re getting a mixture of entirely failed connections and connections that break down then they reach Facebook’s servers. This indicates that Facebook may well be suffering server problems that are restricting the number of connections it can handle.

Though, there was no any previous information (or rumor) about any new roll out, there is substantial possibility that Facebook may come back with any new feature or overhaul. What ever, we can just sit and guess while we cant enjoy ‘habitual’ Facebook updates.

DownRightNow shows that the service has been down for a total of nine hours.

[Update] : People are reporting that its working fine in many cities but equal number of users are still facing outreach !!! close to 10 hours, still down !!

[Update]: Facebook said: “We’re aware that some people are having problems logging on to Facebook with the site appearing slow. The team is working on fixing this at the moment and we expect it to be resolved very shortly.”

[Update]: So, Finally Facebook is up for all the users across the globe. Users across various countries, who were facing the Facebook outreach, are able to access Facebook as reported. But the cause of partial downtime of approximately 12 hours is something which Facebook need to address in next few days. We are keeping this thread open as we have asked the same question with Facebook Team and wait for their reply.
