No matter what market pundits think about the Windows Phone 7 performance, Microsoft’s newly delivered baby in smartphone market has done pretty good in first six weeks of launch – Atleast Achim Berg, Vice president of business & marketing for Windows 7, thinks so. On Tuesday Company has said that more than 1.5 Million of Windows Phone 7 has been sold in six weeks starting from the day of launch. However, the interesting aspect of such ‘disclosed’ figure is its accumulate the operators and retailers and not necessarily only the end users.
Company feels that such sales figures are much convincing and in-line with expectations. However, company tried to distance itself with the comparison with competitors as stating “comparing Windows & with other smartphones sales built on different platform is like and Apple and Orange comparison.” Though, company sees strong future improvisation in sales figures in next few weeks.
“We introduced a new platform with Windows Phone 7, and when you do that it takes time to educate partners and consumers on what you’re delivering, and drive awareness and interest in your new offering. We’re comfortable with where we are, and we are here for the long run; Windows Phone 7 is just the beginning,” Achim Berg said.
With such intense competition in mobile market, it’s difficult for any company to hold the big chunk of market share but Microsoft discounts the sales figures performance as company’s prime focus is on long terms relationship with clients not the short term achievements. Therefore, Company has plan to release first of several updates of Windows Phone 7 in coming months and will also add carrier partner across the globe in 2011. This will provide vast geographic coverage as well as cut strengthen the company’s support arm for Windows Phone & in better way.
Recently, LG has released the early sales figures of its much appreciated Optimus One which stands with 2 Million handset sale mark in 10 week of launch. Windows Phone 7 was first launch on October 21 this in Europe and Asia. In short span of time, on November 8, company also introduced Windows Phone 7 to U.S. market. Currently HTC, Samsung, LG and Dell are the major mobile handset manufacturers who have integrated Windows Phone 7 with couple of models. Besides, there are few other comparatively small players have also introduced Windows phone to many geographic areas across globe.
