How many people can ever imagine their life without Google? Trust, it’s extremely difficult for many as Google has become the one of the imperative objects professionally and personally. As the year is approaching to an end, Google has unveiled the “Google Zeitgeist” – an interactive way to understand the most active & ‘in-demand’ entities over Google.

To present the overall scenario of 2010, Google studied the aggregation of billions of queries people typed into Google search this year. Besides using data from multiple sources, including Insights for Search and internal data tools, Google has also filtered out spam and repeat queries to build out lists that best reflect the spirit of the times. Google kept it anonymous to ensure no personal information or influence.

Which brand has topped, which celebrity was in demand the most, which gadget has made people craziest and many more such insights which Google has showcased. We have studied & analyzed the whole Zeitgeist and present activities of people – How they search Google in 2010 – as an interesting synopsis which you would like to know.

Global Scenario:

It was “Chatroulette” and iPad who ruled the Google. “Chatroulette” was the fastest rising search term around the world in 2010, followed by Apple’s iPad and Justin Bieber, which grabbed second & third place respectively. But one who came out strongly with surpise was Recording artist Nicki Minaj at fourth spot on Google’s list. Twitter and Facebook also made a showing in the top 10 list, taking the No. 8 and 10 spots, respectively.

As expected, “Swine Flu” was the “fastest falling” search terms as deceases never be active constantly. Surprisingly In his second year of death, Michal Jackson lost to ninth position against the first one last year.

Justine Bieber led the way this year by securing top spot in “Fastest Rising in Entertainment” & “Fastest Rising People”. Similarly “Hati” managed to rule “In the News” & “Fastest Rising Humanitarian Aid” category.

Not much to surprise, Apple washed away rest of the competitors on Google by securing top two spots in “Fastest Rising Consumer Electronics” category. Apple’s iPad and iPhone was sitting at first & second position of said category respectively.

Indian Scenario:

Google always predict about India as different search market. People in India are much more action oriented than activity oriented on Google. As a result, it’s none other than Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation, well known as IRCTC, which consumed maximum typing efforts in Google search Box and stayed at top in “Fastest Rising Query” category.

Surprisingly, newly launched local handset mobile manufacturer Micromax managed to beat many well-positioned global brands like Samsung Mobile, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter in “Fastest Rising Query” category by securing second position only to IRCTC.

YouTube, Facebook, Twitter & Samsung were in demand at third, fifth, seventh and ninth position respectively. YouTube was at peak on 23rd March when Russian court found police officer guilty of slander for decrying corruption in YouTube Videos. Facebook was searched maximum in 16 November when exponential Facebook messaging services was launched.

But the scenario becomes upside-down when it comes to “Most Popular” category. Songs, Facebook and Google remains at top position as most popular on Google in India and IRCTC, top position holder in “Fastest Rising Query” category goes down at tenth position as “Most Popular”. Indian people had showed no attraction towards Orkut and Nokia as Most popular and downgraded to nine & eight position.

Under the “Fastest Rising People”, it is “Aruna Shields” which suddenly got raised on 17 June when people, including his wife, criticized him for serving overdose of sex in his movie “Mr. Singh & Mrs Mehta”. Movie industry further dominated under the same category as “Sonakhi Sinha” and “Zarine Khan” stayed at second & third position respectively at the time of their movie release.

However, IPL’s ex-chief Lalit Modi also spotted at number fourth under “Fastest Rising People”. On 26 April 2010, Google witnessed maximum search about him when he got suspended form the IPL management. Besides him, it was Katrina Kaif and Sachin Tendulkar which was searched maximum when “Raajneeti” & ‘Double Ton’ came respectively.

While under the “Most Popular Movies”, amazingly it was Kites which managed to create the charm over Google but failed at theaters. Nokia, Samsung & Airtel are positioned at first, second and third places respectively under “Most Popular Brands”.

Most interesting part on Google was “Most How To” category. Results have given clear indications that education, science or technology do not stand any where in front of Romance & Sex, people wants to get educate about. “Get pregnant”, “Kiss” and “”Impress a Girl” were top three aspects people wants to get educated about.
