Is iPhone4.0 turning out as another Vista ?

Must Read

From last couple of weeks every now and then I am hearing all hue and cry on iPhone 4.0 for signal issue which Apple is trying to encounter. After multiple denial finally Apple accepted its fault but in a tricky manner and putting the iPhone4.0 users in a situation where they have only option to live with it ( along with signal issue ) or return back ( with loss of hard-earned money).

It seems that iPhone 4.0 been one of the craziest mobile launches in last month. Almost everyone in US, Europe & Asia was talking about launch, features, release and having hands on it. Post launch users started facing few issues which Apple managed to fix immediately expect the signal strength issue. Since now, Apple has accepted its fault and promised to fix the signal issue with its next software update, the real meaning of fixing this issue something different.

With iPhone 4.0 current problem it’s not an advisable idea to go for iPhone 4.0 unless and until Apple doesn’t replace the current Hardware Design to fix the signal strength IN REAL TIME. Most of the iPhone 4.0 users started complaining about weak signals while holding iPhone in a specific way. Initially Apple tried to blamed the users which turned back as nightmare for Apple when majority of people shed light on the same issue.

Now Apple officially came out with a statement which says that Software Algorithm is a main cause of problem. While converting the signals into bars, app mistakenly add 2 more bars which use to display wrong signal strength to iPhone users. That means if any user is having signal of only 2 bars ( weak ), iPhone use to show 4 bars ( strong) which was misleading the users and having questions about iPhone 4.0 performance.

Apple said “Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong. Our formula, in many instances, mistakenly displays 2 more bars than it should for a given signal strength. For example, we sometimes display 4 bars when we should be displaying as few as 2 bars. Users observing a drop of several bars when they grip their iPhone in a certain way are most likely in an area with very weak signal strength, but they don’t know it because we are erroneously displaying 4 or 5 bars. Their big drop in bars is because their high bars were never real in the first place.”

But is this a real solution with which users will be happy to live ? Dear Steve, people are not paying you for accepting the fault and accept you where you will show them a way for poor performance. There were days when people use to proudly used to say “I’m with Mac” because they knew Apple will fix the REAL issue any way, all the way.

As Adrian Kingsley-Hughes pointed out in a post of his own this morning, the antenna problem on the iPhone 4 isn’t a software issue. It’s a design defect. And his advice is simple: either live with it or return it. With above statement its very much clear that Apple is not ready to recall and fix the Handset issue and users either have to live with it or just return back. Apple also mentioned that signal hardware issue is not only with iPhone, Droid based phones also facing the same issue. My question is how many users turned up openly, like iPhone users, for their signal issue?

That shows Apple is in no mood to fix their issue on permanent basis and probably working in backend with nec=xt release of HW and software together. The real signal strength remains the same, but the iPhone’s bars will report it far more accurately, providing users a much better indication of the reception they will get in a given area. We are also making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see. but users are not bother about what is nice to see, they expect the nice & clear signals where they can leverage the complete capability of iPhone 4.0 which was promised to the customers.

And as I see no development from Apple on signal strength ( real ) issue, It’s really quite sad.
