US-based AKG Technologies has launched NyooTV.com, an online video service that offers Indian TV shows, Bollywood movies, music videos and event clips aggregated from various entertainment content providers to the Indian audiences in US and India.

According to AKG Technologies, NyooTV.com currently has 100,000 video titles mostly in Bollywood, music and entertainment segments aggregated from content providers like Shemaroo Entertainment, Moser Baer Entertainment, Imagine TV, Eros International, Amar Chitra Katha, 1TakeMedia, Mirchi Movies and Times Music.

“The initial idea was to create a high quality video entertainment portal like Hulu.com which would cater to the Indian tastes and sensibilities. We also felt that there was an opportunity in the premium video content segment which is legal, of superior quality and provides an enhanced user experience,” Gaurav Mendiratta, founder and director, NyooTV.com, has told AlooTechie.

Launched in December 2010, NyooTV.com currently claims to get around 80,000 page views and 20,000 unique visitors a month. According to the company, Bollywood events, trailers and promos are most popular categories of videos watched on the website with about 60 per cent of users viewing them, while full movies and TV Shows generate close to 33 per cent of the traffic.

“Over 65 per cent of our visitors are from India. NyooTV receives its fair share of traffic from US as close to 22 per cent of users are NRIs who like to watch their favourite Indian TV shows and movies. Besides, we also have a fair amount of users coming from Canada, UK and Pakistan,” Gaurav Mendiratta has said.

According to Gaurav Mendiratta, NyooTV.com earns its revenues through in-video advertising. The website has revenue sharing tie-ups with content providers. Going forward, NyooTV plans to also offer its users niche and exclusive content such as documentaries, short-films, plays and music videos from leading film makers and artists along with talented amateur content creators.
