Samsung To Launch New Galaxy Device With 4x Fun At The Galaxy Event 2018

Must Read

The world has been buzzing with news about new smartphone launches lately. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) created quite a stir with its announcement about the new iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS and iPhone XR, while killing off the original one from its stores. But it seems like the other smartphone manufacturers do not want to lag behind. Samsung Electronics  (KRX:005930) has been the first one out of the rest of the market players to follow suit. The South Korean giant recently teased a ‘4x fun‘ event next month on the 11th of October. And, as expected, speculations are rife already about the possible announcements to be made at the event.

Samsung Galaxy Event 2018

On Friday, 14 September, Samsung sent invitations regarding an event on the 11th of October. Although it was mentioned that the event would be a ‘Galaxy Event’, no other details, like time and location, were mentioned. But Samsung did assure that the event would be live streamed on their website.

The invite officially reads, “Samsung’s newest Galaxy device is bringing more ways to express yourself than ever before“. The only other message included with this is the image saying, “4x the fun”. This has led to many speculations regarding the nature of the product and the teased features. But later, more details regarding the event were officially revealed on Samsung’s website. It was revealed that at least one new addition to the Galaxy A series of smartphones will be announced on October 11.

What We Know About the Product So Far

Absolute specifications about the supposed product to be launched haven’t been discovered yet. But a couple of things which we’re sure of are:-

  1. The teased product is going to be a smartphone, an addition to the Galaxy A series
  2. The ‘4x’ mentioned in the teaser has got something to do with the phone’s camera

While the fact that it is going to be a Galaxy A smartphone is confirmed, the interpretation of the above mentioned ‘4x’ is still up in the air. The expression itself denotes that it most probably an upgrade to the photography section of the smartphone. But which exact update, we probably won’t know until October 11. One of the possible forthcoming upgrades might include a total of four cameras in the smartphone. On the 1st of September, Ice Universe, a tipster, tweeted, “Samsung Camera Camera Camera Camera”.

Other speculations point towards to a possible upgrade to the zoom. Samsung might unveil their Galaxy A smartphone with a 4x zoom. They’ve already introduced a 2x hybrid zoom in a few of their smartphone models, so this might be an interesting feature. But at the end of the day, these are all speculations. What Samsung might ultimately end up surprising us with, only time will tell.

What’s Next for Samsung?

Samsung has usually used the back end of the year to focus on its Note flagship phone launches. This year is no different. Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 9 in the August of this year, with the impressive device winning the hearts of many already, along with reportedly warranting the launch of a new silver special edition of the device. But this is not the only device to be launched during the second half this year. The Galaxy Tab S4 and the Galaxy Watch are also in the fray. Samsung, with its host of devices, might just end up stealing the show at the end of the day. And October 11 will be an indicator towards that.
