How Nexus 5 Could Compel Smartphone Vendors To Work On Price Lowering Prices?

Must Read

Over the past few months, number of rumors are cooking around related to Nexus 5, which is considered as one of the best smartphones, to be launched later this year. But as per a recent rumor, the Nexus 5 handset would have smaller screen than its predecessor Nexus 4. The smartphone is also expected to feature a 720p IPS screen, a 2800 mAh battery and a 9 MP CCD camera.

More importantly, majority of high-end smartphone vendors today are working on larger screen size devices, while on the other side, Nexus 5 is rumored to feature smaller screen than its predecessor (Nexus 4). The device (Nexus 5) would have a 4.5-inch screen, occupying 88% space of the front of the phone.

Nexus 5 Skips 1080p Resolutions, Focuses On Camera

It’s true that camera has never been part of Google Nexus marketing campaigns. But this time, Google is targeting to Nexus 5 smartphone’s camera quality. In February this year, Google’s senior vice president of Engineering said that next generation Nexus phone will have ‘an insanely great camera’.

Like HTC One and other, Nexus 5 would also be equipped with 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. One of the disappointing points is that the device wouldn’t have any microSD card slot. This time, Google has decided to move from CMOS, an imaging technology used in current phones, with the Nexus 5 to CCD.

Nexus 5 smartphonesWho Will Manufacture Nexus 5 ?

It’s still unclear who will make the Nexus 5 smartphone. Of course, Nexus phone enthusiasts would like to see the compactness, a more efficient battery and great camera in the fifth generation Nexus smartphone. However, it’s said that LG might build the device. Just a few days before, Android and Me reported that Google was shopping  around for its smartphone prototypes from different manufacturers, including LG. More importantly, LG is currently manufacturing Nexus 4 smartphones, which is considered among the best Android phones. But I’m little skeptical, as the South Korean handset is failed to meet the demand of the device, Google might not continue its partnership with it.

What would Be The Price of the Nexus 5?

Australia’s International Business Times has recently reported that the Nexus 5 smartphone would have Nikon camera, and the price of the device would be comparable to the current Nexus 4 price, expecting to be about $360. Indeed, as per rumors, the specification of the Google’s next generation smartphone seems very impressive. If the rumor related to Nikon camera proves to be true, then definitely, the device could be one of the biggest threat for other smartphones, especially those are targeting to camera enthusiasts. The price of the device also seems to be very descent, and more probably, it could compel other manufacturers to work on their smartphone prices.
