Interestingly, iOS market share reached to peak (65.94%) in August 2012, thereafter, it declined to 63.48% in September of this year. However, we could expect increment in October and holiday seasons of this year due to increasing demand of iPhone 5 worldwide. Undoubtedly, iPad is one of the most impressive products of Apple that succeeded to hold 58% of its total market share in September 2012, followed by iPhone and iPod with 40% and 2% respectively. Despite, iPhone is considered as the most valuable product for the company accounting 46% of its total revenue.

In September, Windows 7 was leading with 48% of total Windows market share, followed by Windows XP with 45% market share. Windows Vista, one of the failure products of Microsoft, had just 7% market share till the end of September 2012.

More importantly, Apple’s fanatics are quite interested in the company every new updates. This is the main reason why 22% of Mac users updated their devices to Mac OS X 10.8 version. Both Mac OS X 10.7 and 10.6 versions had same market share (33%) in September 2012.

Overall, it’s pretty clear that Windows and iOS are dominating in terms of desktop and mobile OS market share respectively. Microsoft’s latest Windows 8 version is on the way to arrive in the market, while Apple iOS 6 is already available. However, it’s considered that Apple fans are not as much satisfied with iOS 6 as they are with its previous version (iOS 5).
