Google Glasses Vs Apple iPatch: Why Tech Giants Are Bullish Over Eyewear Tech Gadget?

Must Read

Google is currently working on ‘Project Glass’, which is on the way to be launched by 2014. Apparently, Apple has been also working on its Glass project since 2006, but Google made a leading edge over the iPhone manufacturer when it revealed ‘Glass Project’ at I/O event in June of this year. Now, Apple seems quite aggressive with filing and gathering patents for the technology related to augmented glass project. Last year, Apple applied for ‘Video Telephonic Headset’ patent and finally it has succeeded to get grant this month. After getting patent right, it has applied for another patent “Display Resolution Increase with Mechanical Actuation”.

Apple’s Patents Related To Eyewear Tech Gadget

At present, both tech giants (Apple and Google) are very serious about their strategies. But there’s little difference in their strategies; Apple is targeting to business professionals through its Glass project, while Google has targeted to consumers and everyday lives. In addition to these, you might have heard about Microsoft’s ‘Kinect Glasses‘, an augmented reality device for gaming console. Just a few days back, the U.S. patent office published a new patent application from Apple, which was related to future ‘Heads-Up Display’.

Patent Related To Heads-Up Display

Apple’s new patent application is whole about the ‘Head-up Display’ concept, representing a generic heads-up display. It’s important to know that the patent isn’t related to the design of the device. The requests is filed for ‘Display Resolution Increases with Mechanical Actuation’, which is the process for augmenting pixels firmness of head mounted digital display.

Indeed, augmented reality eye-wear is widely considered as one of the most innovative projects. As Apple is bullish about patents related to glass project (gathering and filing), it could be a big legal hurdle for Google Project Glass in upcoming future.

Why Tech Giants Are So Aggressive About Glass Project?

Google is trying to carve a wearable computing system around with smart pair of Glasses (integrated with Heads-up display methodology). The purpose of the Project is to provide reliable and all possible information right in front of users’ retina just by using head gestures and  voice commands. The search engine giant is looking for such sophisticated technology so that users would not need to put their hand into the pockets for getting smartphone calls or concentrating for performing any application on their mobile handsets. I think, the video (provided below) could be fruitful to explain how the ‘Project Glass’ will work like:

Undoubtedly, the world is shifting from pocket devices to users’ retina. All the activities of the devices will be controlled by gestures and voice commands in forthcoming years. Really, Apple will try to sustain its position in the worldwide market. One of the important features of the ‘Project Glass’ that it’s aware with the location as it’s integrated with GPS and camera. Have you ever imagined that a sleek frame with a tiny head mounted display (slightly upwards from your eye) will provide the proper information in the real time with 3D display? If not, then wait for sometimes, Apple’s ‘iPatch’ and Google ‘Project Glass’ are to be launched in coming years.
