Android market has been morphed by Google and there’s now an inception of “Google Play”. Yesterday, Google rolled out a latest twist “Google Play”—a digital entertainment hub where user can enjoy and share favorite music, videos, books and apps on any Android phones and Tablets on the web. Google Play is apparently cloud-based service—where you can store music, videos, books and apps without worrying to lose the contents. In nutshell, Google Play comprises of Android Market, Google Music, and Google eBookstore. The Android Market will be known as Google Play Store, Google Music will be Google Play Music, Google movies will be Google Play movies and Google eBookstore will become Google Play Books.
Google Play Music allows you to store up to 20,000 songs at music.google.com. However, Google has not yet allowed uploading your own movies in the cloud. These privileges will not only available for Android users but also for non-Android users. Folks can now easily download more than 450,000 Android apps and games and browse the world’s largest selection of books.
Google play has incorporated all these four Google services –Google Play Music, Google Play Store App, Google Play Videos, and Google play eBookstores–which will also available on PC. Google is going to upgrade Android Market app to the Google Play Store app.
Google states: “In the U.S., music, movies, books and Android apps are available in Google Play. In Canada and the U.K., we’ll offer movies, books and Android apps; in Australia, books and apps; and in Japan, movies and apps. Everywhere else, Google Play will be the new home for Android apps. Our long-term goal is to roll out as many different types of content as possible to people around the world, and we’ll keep adding new content to keep it fresh.”
The company has combined all entertainment media into the single cloud platform; users can easily access it from either PC or Android devices.
Why the company has re-branded the whole things?
The play name is definitely versatile which sounds cool or something entertaining. Indeed, it makes a good impression after hearing. After subtly investigating, the distribution of services will available on more than just mobile devices—Tablets and Smartphone. Google Play Store definitely gives an impression of nifty and effective place. I quite agree with to integrate all of its four services into a single cloud platform, but, as the matter is concern with Android market, the company might have to pay more. Android has been a well established name like Apple apps store and it has now over 450,000 apps in the market. However, if you are thinking that name makes impression over the mind, then, the word “Market” sounds a retail store—which is quite better than the world “Play”. The changing of the name is ridiculous decision and I don’t know, what is really happening with the company’s talented brains.
I appreciate the company’s endeavor to make the cloud-based entertaining plan in order to contend the big rivals like Amazon and Apple. Offering such service even on PC is incredible, currently, Apple doesn’t facilitate iBooks service on its Mac desktop. Some rumors are speculating that Google is going to launch its Tablet later this year. The company might integrate the service with its Tablet, and definitely, it is going to threaten Apple and Amazon.
