Must Read

Social Media is slowly becoming the most preferred target for hackers and scammers. More than 1 billion accumulated users over social network websites are constantly witnessing filthy attack from miscreants who always try to take advantage of latest and on-going buzz of social media. Facebook’s video calling feature is the latest one on the row scammers are using to perform illicit activities on social platform.

An application, “illegitimately” available on Facebook known as Video Calling App, is getting circulate among the users and claims to be a “needed install” to active Facebook Video calling feature with your chat.  Since the app is identical to any another legitimate app install, as shown in screen below, user may get easily convinced towards the authenticity of this app.

Though, there is no particular mark while installing this app which can point you to check the authenticity, there are few notable points which can avoid you to be another victim of such scamming attempt. Most important, Video calling facility is Facebook self-launch feature and no third-party application is required to install to activate this.

However, if you fail to find video chat facility with your chatting window, please follow these guidelines which are official steps to active it. Indeed, this will ask you to install a small component but that would not need any special permission, as shown above, to access your personal information.

Apparently, this doesn’t look like very devastating scam as this app will only guide you to a page which leads you to a survey page to generate referral fees for scammers besides posting it on your friends’ wall.
